I never noticed years ago when I first tried watching this, but they give away so much in the opening. It is honestly disappointing.

Even though it took me 8 months to watch all of it, I enjoyed it very much. It is almost too slow at times, but I never felt like I was bored. Beautiful series with leads who actually have chemistry.

I personally enjoy it much more than Yanxi Palace, but I didn't like the FL in that. This is a much slower burn on all accounts, the plot, the romance, ect. Even so, for me it probably ranks second on my favorite list.

Alright. Does the FL use martial arts too though? I'm not big into female warrior shows.

I know this has a wuxia tag, but does the FL fight as well?

I have to agree with this statement. I don't necessarily dislike the show, but I am struggling to keep enough interest in it to keep watching.

Okay, I haven't finished this yet, but I doubt the last 4 episodes are going to change my opinion much. In my opinion, this needs a massive reboot, but without the transmigration plot point as it didn't really add much. There are really good bones here, but I felt the story was told horribly. I'm not going to list anything as I know people adore this series, but for me it has been very disappointing.

So we are not supposed to have opinions on anything until we have seen it in its entirety? If you do this for everything then I commended you, but for most it is unrealistic. I plan to finish the series, and I will be sure to give my final thoughts. I will NOT reply to you any longer though as it is a waste of time.

Now I'm mad I deleted the entire list of notes I took while I watched it, but I'll try to sum up what I can. The evil palace maids plot was horrible in almost all aspects. The reason why the head maid was mad was childish and she punished people who didn't deserve it. How did she build a secret passage without anyone knowing, and it was never explained how she made san's father go mad. The series kept going back and forth on whether San's grandfather was a complete lunatic or a chill, understanding ruler. The wipe lash with him was annoying. San himself is garbage doo doo butter and only refers to the female lead(legit forgot her name) as a possession despite saying he loves her so much. Romance dies anytime a man says, "you are mine." FL didn't have any real goals in her life. She said when she was younger that she wanted to be a great writer, but she seems to never even try but complains that she would be "giving up everything" if she became San's concubine. Like girl, you could still write, we never really see what she isn't able to do as a concubine, we are just told she is stiffled. I also feel like there were just many things that just didn't make sense, like when FL's friend chose to leave the palace and was happy, but comes back because the other friend bullied her to do so. That is horrible messaging. Anyway, I'm going to stop here cause I don't particularly like pooing on stuff people like.

Really conflicted about this one. I could write a short novel about how I feel about it, but I think to sum it up I will say I liked the acting(mostly), production, and narrative themes. I unfortunately didn't like the characters or large portions of the plot. I would probably give it a 6/10.

I did end up liking this more than I thought. I just really wish it hadn't had pulled the same cheap stunt The Double did in its second half of the final episode. If ya know, ya know. I will say this one was less egregious, but did cause me to drop my score some.

I'm 2 episodes in and I'm really not enjoying this one. I find the FL and the comedy cringy. Came here for tear-jerker, and got slap-stick. When does the tone shift to something more serious?

Slight disagreement here, at least up to the episode I am on(13), both leads act very childish and it can be frustrating. They straight up avoid talking to each other when they need to sometimes. It still is a good show though.

No, he sees her more as chess piece in the beginning. They don't end up together till almost the last episode.

No, I don't think at any point I could call them enemies. More like their goals cross paths which forms an alliance.

Wu Jin Yan's best performance, in my opinion anyway. I'm not exactly sure what I liked about this series, but I did end up liking it. Though I do wholeheartedly agree with those disappointed with the last 10 minutes of the last episode. It wasn't necessary and I took off a whole point for it. This IS worth watching, just expect to have whiplash at the very end.

I know this is entirely personal preference and isn't anything against anyone's abilities, but the reason I had to drop this show is the main leads are some of the most boring looking people I have ever seen in a drama.
