Wu Jin Yan's best performance, in my opinion anyway. I'm not exactly sure what I liked about this series, but I did end up liking it. Though I do wholeheartedly agree with those disappointed with the last 10 minutes of the last episode. It wasn't necessary and I took off a whole point for it. This IS worth watching, just expect to have whiplash at the very end.

I know this is entirely personal preference and isn't anything against anyone's abilities, but the reason I had to drop this show is the main leads are some of the most boring looking people I have ever seen in a drama.

Somehow it took me over a year to finish this. Was it worth it? Kinda. I didn't hate it, but goodness was it bloated in some places and yeah, the last 10 episodes were a mess. Overall I do think the series came to a conclusion that made sense. If you like happy endings, or a well paced/written plot this isn't the drama for you.

I'm about 20 episodes in. At what point does Feng Zhi Wei stop dressing like a dude? It is weirdly killing the show for me as I do not see how no body notices.

Honestly, I thought so too. She acts the same way in the Legend of Hao Lan, so idk if it is bad acting or bad direction.

"fate" isn't a good enough answer for a piece of media to have various flaws and inconsistencies. At the end of the day it is a narrative and should flow as such. It is fine that people like it, I don't really care, but those who dislike it are just as valid.

I actually did finish it and pretty much hated it. There was almost no character development for anyone and the plot became very rinse and repeat. I too am baffled by how it is so praised, but to each their own.

Can anyone tell me what the ending theme song is called? I can find every other song, but this one.

Look at the time, it is time to rewatch this beautiful series. Maybe this time I'll write a review.

I feel like I'm missing something, most rave on and on about how good this series is. I made it only 2.5 episodes in before I had to drop. Part of it is just how annoying I find Xiaofeng. If anyone comes across this comment and thinks I didn't give it a fair shot then tell me which episode does it start to "get good" and I might give it another go.

This one was honestly frustrating for me. There are very few moments when it feels like Mi Yue is actually making a choice of her own. Which is a problem when you are building to someone becoming a literal monarch. The plot moved the character around and not forward in this one.

In my opinion Ruyi builds on what Empresses in the Palace started and makes it way more gripping. The character writing is flawless(imo) whereas EitP had some issues in that department for me.

The Empress Dowager? No, she lives a pretty comfortably life the whole series. I believe they didn't want to do too much to her(bad) as a character seeing as she is Zhen Huan from Empresses in the Palace.
