Nah happy. Certain unnamed people get what they deserve, and it involves tigers on the loose. But overall Kimmy and Kamol have a riding off in the sunset kinda ending.
I'll be honest I wasn't expecting the tigers to be part of the story. Now I just want the original ending of the novel. Want to see carnage and blood. Also the cuts between Youtube and GagaOOLala seem strange, like why even bother.
Pack, although if I remember correctly in the novel he is in a relationship with Mark's cousin. They only dated for like two months. And I think Thewpai is meant to be the cute guy that tries to date Mark when the two are separated. But he might be a totally different character.
@savethedata,do you know if Vee,and Mark had a happy ending,or sad ending in the novel?
Happy ending, basically Mark tortures Vee whilst the other gently pleads and begs for forgiveness, however in all the time Mark's desire for him actually hasn't changed. He just wanted to return the pain he felt towards Vee. And actually he starts to get worried when Vee does disappear from his life, hoping the senior will chase him once again. And that's when we come full circle with Mark drunk again asking why the guy he likes doesn't love him. Vee takes him home that night and the pair have a repeat of the first time (although consensual). They don't automatically reconcile but Mark gives Vee another chance. Slowly they build back their relationship and become boyfriends again. But that's the novel, although I doubt they will change the endgame.
Alright lets hope for the steamy shower scene as the opener next week as the calm before the storm cause the Ploy and Vee kiss is nearly upon us. We then have to deal with the "breakup", the return of Mark's ex and Vee's self destruction, which I am going to speculate has to do with the accident since that isn't in the novel. Both of them are in for some hurt however if it ends like the novel then they come out stronger because of it.
My favourite scene in the directors cut, which I think speaks volume in the whole episode, is straight after they have the lunch date and go back to the dorm. Mark pushes Vee away with the invitation of watching dramas and goes inside where we see his happy expression at spending time with Vee, which then slowly turns into anger at himself for liking a guy already taken, again. It really shows his inner struggle with his thoughts towards Vee. Then we have the whole drama with the escaped mental patient and skip to the end of the episode where a similar scene plays out but this time he is the one to invite Vee into his apartment, seemingly content with his choice and not pushing Vee away, you can see he makes the decision in the next episode when he puts up the message about adultery, he knows its wrong but at the same time can't help that he has fallen for Vee.
It is also made crystal clear that Ploy is becoming cellophane in Vee's eyes, although he is constantly reminded of her existence because of his friends yet he is blinded to her cause of his attraction to Mark and/or jealously towards Nuea.
Don't know about this adaptation, but in the novel the dad isn't homophobic its more of a wariness. Yoo, Vee's brother is gay and in the past he brought home a younger classmate so the father was probably surprised to see his other son with a male guest. Yoo is aware that Vee has slept already with Mark, his parents aren't however they have assumptions and his fathers reaction is more caution that if Vee is also gay or bi that his life will be more difficult since society at large isn't that accepting yet. One of my favourite things about the novel is actually the dynamics of both Vee's supportive family and Mark's very much more conservative one. But like I said, that is the novel.
Jun Hao and Zhi Ming really need to work on their communication skills, seriously its takes one to have a concussion and the other to drink himself into a coma out of guilt before those two talk and apologise. Last two episodes to go.
Also Chen Wen wearing those glasses when he is recovering from the concussion makes him look very cute, he doesn't look like he has aged at all.

Unforgotten Night is only one of 15 BL's that are on air that I'm watching at the moment. As a fan of the novel, which I have read more times then I would like to admit, this is on par with expectations based on the trailer. But I won't judge it until a few more episodes. Will agree though with some criticism here that the directing in some shoots seems out of place, and weird transitions between scenes that disrupt the story flow can be confusing for those not familiar with the source. Also have to cringe at some of the dialogue from the book being used verbatim. But overall out of my three categories of BL; the good, the bad and the weird this is falling into the last category and will probably become another guilty pleasure.
I love these characters to give up on them, also waiting for my bodyguard throuple.
Just a reminder that Sometani Shota is 27 - he's been acting now for 19 years (since 2001) , won an international acting award, is married to the talented actress Kikuchi Rinko which he has two children, has appeared in two Chinese films (for which he learnt Chinese) and not only is busy acting in-front of the camera but is starting to make a name as a director.
Although Suda Masaki isn't my favorite actor (he does rank in a poll position) he undoubtedly is insanely talented and one of the best in his generation since as one of the few that has been recognized for his contribution to film, drama, stage and music with winning multiple awards. (at last count he was up to 35 (March 2020)) across the board.
That isn't to say that there aren't other incredibly talented actors in his generation but no one has come close to the success of Suda Masaki (or in such a short time).
