Note, that I said that in my opinion KHN was a bad actor. And I would value the opinion of someone who in my opinion is a good critic of art, and not because you say that your subjective opinion has objective value.

Miss Simpleton, it looks like I hit a nerve there. Yes, I am not Korean, but I have been watching Korean shows and movies in various languages for years. And I can tell good acting from bad acting. And, in my humble opinion, Kang Ha-neul is a bad actor, and it's not only about his diction of which I speak. I first saw him in Tastefully Yours, and later on in WTCB, which confirmed my opinion about him as an artist.. And so what if he has won awards?Awards like these are not necessarily good metrics of quality work but of those that appeal to the masses. If he won the Baeksang Arts Award, it proves what these awards are worth. I wouldn’t compare it with the Oscars, which are not exactly great either. But this show or the actors would never win the Oscars. Have you seen the quality of the foreign works and actors that win the Oscars? Leave alone even being considered for something like the Golden Globe Awards or something in that category? . This show was a tear-jerker with bad acting, hamming, and a clichés-driven plot. I had heard so much about this show, and I kept waiting for some redeeming qualities, but it kept getting worse and worse. A movie/show can have an ordinary plot or be fantasy based, but still be well-made and entertaining. This was none of these. The fact that you have come to the defence of this show and the actors shows you are not really someone who is very well-placed to understand what constitutes a good work of art. I later watched A Piece of Your Mind (beautifully made with excellent acting and production values) twice successively to recover from my experience of this one. And the acting, especially that of Jung Ha-in in that show was fabulous. But, of course it was not popular, and of the kind that needs patience and a real appreciation of art. And there are lots of great Korean works, and this one certainly does not even come close. I don’t have to know the intricacies of a culture to recognize good from bad work. The fans of a show like WTCB are not the most discerning, and it seems like you are one of them. And your opinion about it makes no difference to what I think about it.
I found the series very trite with overacting all around, especially the male lead. I think he's a terrible actor and thinks that makning gargling sounds makes him funny! I fast forwarded many scenes especially toward the end with the mother and the little boy who was so irritating. They were all so mean and unappreciative of the real father's love for his son. He did not know about his son, so it was unfair to blame him, as his son did who was so mean to him. The FL is supposed to have an optimistic personality but she cries all the time. It was such an irritating series. Especially after having watched Something in the Rain, which had some real good acting and a real romance.
