Title Stay with Me Spoiler
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT (well maybe....)

After seeing Addicted which was censored an cancelled a few episodes before the series was complete, Stay with Me crushed it. Sure, the intimacy was not there compared to Addicted, but those scenes then werent that intense anyway. We do have to keep a few things in mind. First, SuYu and WuBi are only 17, physical intimacy would still be limited even outside of China (which has intense censorship).

If you are a viewer that must read the subtitles, you have to watch the series more than once. It is easy to miss even the slitghtest innudendo because of the distraction of subtitles.

WuBi and SuYu share several intimate moments, the director/writers did a good just of making you feel that conncection without explicitly displaying it, hence risking the over the top censorship from China. You also have to have enough connection to the series to recognize the innuendos and facial expressions and body language. Wasn't that little kiss during the lights out in the classroom scene the sweetest :)

As for heartbreaking end to Series 1, and they have a Season 2 announced, obviously WuBi survives. All of the foreshadowing episode 24 helps reinforce that.

I have also read both novels. In the novel, WuBi survives, in fact he regained conciousness pretty quickly. But what happens from there will only break your heart further. What we didn't see in the Series is SuYu getting understood clearly that WuBi's cousin wanted him dead. The novels can be painful at times, and frankly, the series only skimmed the surface of much of the pain WuBi and SuYu had to go through.

My recommendation is watch the Series, in fact watch it at least a couple times, then read the novel. It's available translated on Wattpad and other sources using the original title "Addicted." Compared to the novels, the Series is very different and the novel is very much the same. Contradictory I know, but reading the novel after seeing the series will bring the novel to life with all the visual energy you remember from the series... and it's much steamier too! You do have to keep in mind the names are changed, but you will quickly understand who is who.

There are obvioius and significant differences between the novels and the series, though I understand why that may be because of cinimatic and censor limitations. The premise of the novel and the series though is very simiilar and you will very much relate the content.

The second novel starts 8 years after the end of episode 24. It's downright heartbreaking. In the second seeies,I speculate there will be massive differences between the novel and the series. In the novels, there was an intense military content that I surmise the censors would never allow. For example, in the novels, WuBi's father is a powerful general in the military. In the series, he's a powerful director/CEO. On the otherhand, SuYu's father is a poor simple man in both.

Ok, I blabbed enough, looking forward to the second Series. If the overall outcome is even close to the novel, our hearts will be mended from this horrible pain at the end of Series 1. It will be a painful heartwrenching ride, but we'll get there...... I hope!
