I stopped feeling bad for the king after the latest episode. He is not letting anyone leave peacefully even when…
I believe the whole reason why the King is unable to let both Chaekyung and Yeok go is because of his twisted way of loving them both. He loves Chaekyung as a woman and cannot understand her undying love for Yeok who has always been a threat to his throne, a symbolism of his unworthiness (as he doesn't have the right to be on the throne technically due to their wretched father). However, even with his feelings for her, he cannot forgive her for being loyal to Yeok as she once called herself his "family" and this word is legit the one thing you shouldn't say to this love deprived King as this is the trigger to his obsessive nature. Seeing Chaekyung happy with Yeok (who will forever be his dongseng who makes him feel inferior, guilty, furious, jealous, confused etc.) will tear him apart. He cannot forgive Chaekyung, "his family," his love, his only hope in maintaining mental peace, for not understanding her social standing (She is part of "his people" yet she keeps supporting "his enemy's people"). To him, love is pain. No matter how much he loves her, how much her smile makes him feel "normal," he cannot let her leave the insanity that he has created. Her smiles and tears must only be for him, not Yeok, even if he literally only makes her cry.
Don't think I like the King, it's just that I'm in love with how layered and complex his feelings are to the Shin Family. It's worth an analysis really! I really wish I had the time to sit down and write a proper, high school English class worthy analysis of this character because he's so rich as a person!
Go Bo Gyeol and Lee Dong Gun redefined great villains for me. They're fantastic! I'm noticing that I look forward to their scenes the most (even if I am in love with our OTP). <3
Seonoh-ah, Seonoh. Seonoh! There's a special place in heaven for you my baby. You'll finally be reunited with your Aboji and Halmonni. I hate that my worst nightmares are coming true. You were the greatest character in this show Seonoh-ah. I'll remember you forever. Thank you for being such a loyal supporter to our OTP. Thank you for keeping Myung Hye in check for us and even bringing out some of her humane characteristics. Thank you for being so forgiving (Yeok ran away, Myung Hye sacrificed him, Chae Kyung's dad is the one who's conducting all the killings albeit under King's order). Thank you for being such a beautiful character both in and out. I don't know how life will go on without you (in the show, yes, and mine too). You were too precious to be true. Us QF7D fans loved you with all our might baby. Please rest in peace.
Now excuse me as I sob for one more hour. This man was worth all my tears. What a heroic death!
Oh yeah, I came up with a thought. The whole reason why adult Chaegyeong never seems to whistle her song once she grew up (instead adult Yeok whistled it numerous times) is probably because Park Min Young can't whistle. :P That's cute :)
This drama is so stressful in a good way. It sticks to my mind like a worry the whole week and every week on Thursday, I wake up much earlier than usual because I'm excited/anxious for the new episode. Fridays are when I rewatch the older episodes and watch the latest ones and scream and shout because of the plot turns and twists. Ah, the stress it gives me. The sweet pain :')
The fantastic thing about this show is that it has a way of making me fall in love with ALL the characters. Take Myung Hye for example, this week, other than her blunder in front of the King, I saw no reason to hate her. In fact, she got some brownie points from me because she tried to soothe Seo Noh baby. See? This is why this show rocks!
Thank you for writing an article! I've been making the minds of all my friends and family go crazy because I couldn't understand why they're missing out on SUCH A GOOD SHOW! I hope more people will watch this show now!
I find it unbelievable that this is from the writer of Misaeng/Arang. I would expect this lazy, cringey script…
What I want is people to give love to this show if they want to but also recognize our underrated masterpieces. For you, that would be Circle but for me IT'S QUEEN FOR SEVEN DAYS OMG THE FEELS THIS SHOW GIVES ME. I MIGHT NEED TO GET SOME BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE BECAUSE THAT'S HOW AGITATED I GET WATCHING THIS SHOW. Please tune in if I have interested anyone of you *winks* :D
Okay so I saw this GENIUS comment on Dramabeans. (Shout out to blue moon because you were the first one to comment about this there!) This is what it said, verbatim: "... Do any of you know what was written on Chae-Kyung's tatoo? Could she be the secret will the King left? Whoever marries her ends up to be King? The late King then specifically chose Yeok to marry her in the future. ..." Such a smart thought right??
Why do I have a feeling that most of the Snail Wives will pass away during the coup d'etat? I love Seo Noh, Gwang Jo and Suk Hee :( This would also enrich the fact that Yeok will have no one to trust once he becomes the King. Myung Hye will probably be his new Queen but will be plotting to make sure her sons get the benefit of the crown instead of the concubines' sons idk smth like that?
