Officially obsessed! Huge props to CBL for dropping such a gem. Honestly guys, it’s way more than just the NC scenes. Ollie and Shuyuan’s chemistry is out of this world. The tension, the tiny details, their visuals, the plot, and the production... everything hits just right. Also, their BTS clips literally send me, they need to get married for my peace of mind fr 😭 Can we talk about the intro? I can't even skip the intro because the OST just hits me every time, also Ollie’s ending song is so good. Just a heads up on the schedule: they released 3 eps for the premiere week, but the regular schedule from now on is just Fri-Sat. Praying the show stays this consistent and the ending doesn't disappoint!
Do we get 2 episodes per week? I’m kind of confused on why there’s only 5 episodes available on viki. Unless…
For the premiere week, they actually dropped 3 episodes (Friday to Sunday), but for the rest of the show, the regular schedule is just Fridays and Saturdays.
based on the BL market that i analyze in gaga, people do prefer fast paced romance (especially those with happy…
Yeah exactly! I totally get it because the Thai BL fandom is massive compared to JBL, KBL, or CBL. Since they built that whole fixed pair system outside of the shows, the fanbase is just huge, so it makes sense why Thai BLs easily get high ratings. I actually enjoy fast paced romance too. like Duang With You or even Lovesick 2024. But at the same time, I just have a huge soft spot for well written slice of life with lots of yearning. I really respect stories that feel grounded and realistic. Though, I do draw the line at straight up dark or depressing stuff. Like, I love a slow aesthetic vibe, but movies like Double Mints, Method, or Night Flight are just too heavy and chaotic for my taste. So yeah, I guess I'm just looking for that sweet spot: a beautifully written, realistic story that takes its time, without being toxic or depressing. I just wish MDL users could appreciate that kind of pacing more!
Is this really the ending? I honestly expected more. The drama started off so good, but the ending felt a bit messy to me. It’s sad because I was so excited when it first released. I mean, I don't think there's ever been a Chinese BL with a high school setting like this before. Also, Zhan Wang's visuals completely matched my expectations for a Chinese high schooler. Overall, it’s still worth watching. Thank you to the actors for their hard work, looking forward to their next projects! Honestly, now I’m torn between keeping the 8.5 rating I had from the start or dropping it to an 8 because of the ending.
fr though, why do so many japanese BLs get rated under 8.0 on MDL? like, they’re literally so much better written and produced than your usual BL. is it because people just don't appreciate the slice of life format? or the slow burn yearning? JBLs just hit different. the cinematography, the aesthetics, and the overall vibes. they’re just SO GOOD. honestly, idk how to explain it but iykyk. do people really prefer fast paced romance over deeply written stories nowadays?
Honestly, Journey With You is a whole dream. Historical C-dramas usually gatekeep actual BL with the 'bromance' tag, and while Meet You at the Blossom or Kill To Love exist, they just didn't hit the spot for me. This show is a breath of fresh air, especially since a Chinese historical BL is practically non-existent. Not completely perfect, but it kept me so excited all the way to the finale.
Ah no wonder it’s this good, the director literally made 'When It Rains, It Pours' and 'Jack o' Frost' which are absolute masterpieces. This one is another peak comfort show and the storyline feels SO realistic. I’m gonna miss them so much. Anyway, the ending song is such a bop!! Guys pls don’t forget to stream 'Black Out' by Crown Head, it goes incredibly hard istg! Rating 8.5/10 well deserved😭
the production, cinematography, acting, storyline, and the OST? literal perfection. but what truly took my breath away was the island/sea setting. since they’re islanders, it felt so authentic and incredibly beautiful 🥺 and the ending just PERFECT!! overall, highly recommended!!
Omg thank you for saying this, i feel the exact same way!! I thought i was missing some connection between them…
I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Maybe they’re lowkey queerbaiting just to sit on the fence and cash in on both the mainstream straight audience and the BL fandom, all while avoiding actual skinship to protect the lead actor's mainstream reputation. It's such a shame because Ok Taecyeon's acting was honestly top-tier, so it sucks that we lost that emotional connection
I WAS THINKING THE SAME!!! He seem like the jealous type and I'm confused whether he actually cares for his brother…
ikr! He even knew from the start that Lu Feng cared about his older brother. He even received the message, but he hid it himself and made it seem like Lu Feng didn't care about Xiao Chen
I'm actually annoyed with Xiao Chen's younger brother. at the beginning, He didn't even like his older brother being gay. Well, he ended up being gay too. I also don't understand why he hated Lu Feng so much from the start. He's also really annoying because he keeps interrupting Lu Feng and Xiao Chen. He's rude.
I actually like this drama, it’s visually beautiful and touching. I totally get what the creators were trying to do. they intentionally avoided any skinship to emphasize the pure, spiritual 'soul mate' concept. It’s a poetic idea on paper. However, in reality, it just felt unsatisfying because the chemistry between the leads was lacking. If you're going to skip skinship entirely, the emotional build up and the sparks between them need to be exceptionally strong. But here, they felt like regular best friends for most of the show. So when they suddenly traveled together, confessed their love, and promised to stay together before Johan passes away, it felt a bit awkward and forced. A lovely show with a great premise, but the lack of romantic chemistry made the ending feel disconnected.
