This is really good! It's keeping my interest. :) Sadly, only 2/3rds are on youtube and the final third is not... it's times like this I wish I could rent it at a movie store...so much simpler.
Anyone seen the whole thing somewhere? Or just the last part...?
As a kuro fan, I found Madam Red's role in the movie quite interesting. (SPOILER:...... married to Shiori's father but unable to produce an heir, so dumped for her older sister. Wow.)
Also Shiori says "僕の目的が達成されなければ、僕の魂を喰らう事はできないんだぞSebastian 亜dds”坊ちゃんが誰かに殺されてしまった場合も私のモノになりません” ("
"As long as my goal is not realized, you cannot devour my soul!" "Furthermore, you will not become mine if you are killed by someone else."
What an interesting "out" of the contract... That is a helpfully explicit description of the contract compared to the manga. (In the manga, we only know that Sebastian will be Ciel's loyal servant until his goal is realized and Sebastian devours his soul (chapter 4). Also, in chapter 63 and then 94, it looks like if Ciel ever gives up, Sebastian can also devour his soul)
I also liked Sebastian's emphasis/foreshadowing on ‘...夢ならまだしも、私のいないところで殺されるようなことがあっては困ります。ただ、自殺ならご自由に。自殺なさる分には私は魂をいただけますので。 (Even if it it's only a dream, it would be troublesome if you were killed when I wasn't there. However, feel free to consider suicide. If you commit suicide, I can still receive your soul.)
Which means that if Sebastian fails to protect Shiori/Ciel, Ciel's soul would not be devoured...and if she commits suicide (rather than give up, as implied by the manga), Sebastian still gets the soul. Interesting food for thought.
Wow, is this another Warner Brothers movie? (Kenshin was also made with them). While I adore the manga (neutural about the anime), I am by no means against this movie. Since it's in the future/ after the original timeline, I'll just think of it as a sort of AU. And a pretty girl cosplaying Ciel. ;)
Oh, they have that "girl pretends to be a boy" thing again. That seems popular recently...
Akumu-chan movie? Very fun!
On the article:
Nice job showcasing the highlights of the film! You have caught everyone up to speed. I'm happy a non-fan wrote the article, actually. You're less likely to be biased...unless it's a pro Hiro bias. ;) JK...
Edits! Word choice stuff...
Technically, I don't think Sebastian HAS to eat her soul. XD; He actually wants to, I think, so the sentence should say "He protects Shiori and watches over her but AT a high price: he WILL consume her soul." also "perfect skills cooking skills," <-- forgot a comma? A bit redundant, though, so deleting the skills before cooking might be good...
I loved it! (I saw it in theaters) I thought the complication (not saying! ;) ) was a bit predictable, but even still it was interesting. The loneliness one might feel alone in one's mind, anger at one's partner and desire to keep drawing manga are all played out well in this movie. I wish they'd explored the "if it's my mind and my world, I can make you do anything." aspect a bit more...
All in all, quite satisfied. I'd give it a 8.00 and maybe watch it again.
