They were separated 5 years, when they married she's 20However, this is a period piece and you should treat it…
I really like how you put it. I can't help feeling personally uncomfortable watching the process, but I guess I can appreciate from a distance the meaning that emerges from the decision to have that age difference.

I understand not denying history. I have enjoyed other shows with age differences like Story of Minglan. It's less about the age difference I guess, and more about her characterization and their dynamic, which makes it impossible for me to not think about the age difference.
On Love Like the Galaxy: Part 1 Oct 7, 2024
I enjoyed it but I won't continue with Part 2. I can't bring myself to like the pairing of a 15 year old girl with a 21 year old general. It works in the source material (星汉灿烂, 幸甚至哉) only because a modern young woman ends up in the body of the 15 year old. But the FL in the show feels like an actual 15 year old, and it's just making me very very uncomfortable. Shame because I love Zhao Lusi.

Yun Se Jun single-handedly ruined this drama for me. But I really loved everyone else, including Ma Hye Ri before her transformation (I might have liked her a little too much haha).

Title City Hunter
Agreed. Healer was pretty awesome as well but it lacked the music City Hunter had and the ending of Healer kind…
I came back to this after Healer and I agree that it definitely has a better plot. City Hunter is more of a revenge story and makes you think about morality and justice which was something I expected from Healer as well but was let down.

Boring. Zero chemistry between leads. Definitely not a comedy or at least it isn't funny. In fact, there are more tragic scenes than comedic ones. Horrible things happen to the characters but nothing is really adressed in the aftermath, which left me a little confused and frustrated. Were these characters affected at all? There is so little dialogue that I doubt the script's longer than a few pages, and the existing dialogue is bad anyways. No wonder there is no chemistry between leads, they hardly have a proper conversation... This was not the romantic comedy I expected and it has definitely ruined my afternoon. Obviously, I don't recommend it.

Title Empress Ki
Dropped at episode 38. Episodes 1-8 were nice. 8-22 were repetitive, frustrating and I felt like my intelligence was being insulted. 22-38smth picked up a bit but after that arc ended, I felt that I couldn't continue anymore. The main female lead is unlikeable, inconsistent and generally bad written. She has no motive or personality. Why does she do anything she ends up doing, I have no idea. The second male lead is just straight up boring after the first 8 episodes. The only character I liked was Togon (male lead) as he was the only character that I could sympathize with and understand. I loved every second he was on screen, even when he was being annoying or made stupid decisions. The plot feels ridiculous. Every action, every plot twist feels forced and insults the viewer's intelligence. There is no clever plotting from either side and it just feels like child's play. Death happens so suddenly and so often that I honestly didn't care anymore. Not to mention, plot holes are everywhere and they're not easily ignorable. I feel cheated because I had big expectations for this drama. I loved Ha Ji Won in all her other dramas (King2Hearts, Secret Garden etc.) and even movies. She couldn't even shine her because of the awful writing. I also know a little of the real Empress Gi in history. Having known that, the moral standing this show had felt ridiculous.

TLDR : Characters are unlikeable, plot is forced and belittles viewers' intelligence, only like 8 out of the 38 episodes I've watched were worth the time. I don't recommend it to anyone.

This was my second korean drama, the first one I chose consciously, and I remember that I had to drop this halfway because I couldn't stand Jan Di's character. If you really like the story, watch the other versions or better yet, watch the Japanese Anime 'Hana Yori Dango'. You won't find a prince-like Joon Pyo in it but I think that's what makes it good. It actually has character development, unlike this.
