I do think that he should finish off his degree because it's what is best for him, but he doesn't seem like he would enjoy becoming a doctor. Even if it is a career that would give him a stable life, I don't think he would be okay with watching more people die in front of him like his best friend. Plus he probably also does not want to abandon the people around him like his father has abandoned him for work.
