Actually, I went into it expecting a slice of life drama (which is my favourite genre). Misaeng, Be Melodramatic…
I see. I agree that the writing could have been way better. The concept was there but at one point it dropped a lot of possible seeds as tk where the story could go but ultimately, it went no where. Though I disagree with your comment on chemistry, I really appreciate you sharing your opinion. Thank you ?

It's how the drama turned out overall.. like some characters and relationhsip lacked depth and as a viewer I felt…
Very much agreed!!! I do wish we saw more from the character. But performance wise, with what's she's given though, she did really well in my opinion.

So with the lack of storyline, for me, I would place my blame on the writers. But as I've also said in my main comment, if Jeong-ha's storry is really planned from the beginning to not have been a major part, then my expectation of So Dam having a lot of scenes would be set by those who told me she would and in my experience, it was the promotions, especially Netflix. I then hold both the writer and the promoters accountable (but maybe the promoter a little more). Lol

(Context: I am looking at things from this angle because I am very interested in the industry of marketing and promotions.)

The writer should't writing such a beautiful love story in the beginning, they should have just less romance,…
Yeah pretty much. But I agree that the writer could've done better like take out some scenes.

Oooo yeah no problem, I understand. There was a point for me that I put this drama on hold since I didn't like where it was going since it gets messy and I really understand those comments. I think personally what made me stay was seeing Sa Hye-jun's journey and his relationship with his family and the cast and their performances. I appreciate how they gave it their all considering what they were given.

I just felt like making this comment since I have seen a lot of other reviews saying that it was the lack of Jeong-ha and Hae-hyo's stories that made them hate the show, which I personally felt until I also considered what if it was on marketing and press about it. We also know So Dam and Bo Gum can perform well and perform in big-hit productions (Parasite, Reply 1988, etc.) so I'm thinking that those thoughts may also have an effect as well? Plus the fact this is Bogummy's last tv series until he comes back from the military.

The movie "La La Land" ended almost similarly?

Genuine question but are y'all disappointed with the drama because it didn't meet expectations? If so, what expectations did you have coming in it? I've seen a number of reviews that are disappointed with the show because of the lack of Jeong-Ha (and don't worry, I really wished we saw more of her). Like I understand it but I also can't help but wonder if it is possible because we expected her story to be in it as much as Hye-Jun's? If so, I then believe there is a big discrepancy between the story and how it is marketed/promoted. Because if you look into the official website of the show, the description says (based on the rough translation Google could give me too lol) that the show is about Sa Hye-Jun deals with achieving his dreams through the struggles of life AND the relation of family to it. This makes the genre clear that it does not prioritize romance; rather, it focuses on slice of life / youth / family. HOWEVER, international marketing, especially Netflix, tagged the show as a romance and how it is both Hye-Jun and Jeong-Ha who will have to deal with achieving their dreams. If someone then was premised with the latter, the show really did lack and does not meet expectations since the story barely showed Jeong-Ha's story. But if people have been premised with the former description, I think the drama makes perfect sense and it delivers what it promised. So I feel like, the real person to blame is for any unfulfilled feelings marketing/promotions team for providing a description that did not match the story.Overall though, I would still prefer Jeong-Ha and Hye-Jun's story to have been equally featured. (Context: I am looking at things from this angle because I am very interested in the industry of marketing and promotions.)

I don't know if it's just me but I could swear that they patterned Sa Hye-Jun's character or even the overall story of the show to Park Bo Gum's life....
