The way I see it, her character was shaped a lot by the fact she witnessed the slaughter of her entire family at a very early age. Then she grew up in wilderness virtually alone with occasional visits of a man who wanted her to become his weapon. But after the almost death, she woke up with no memories. They told her she was loved, got lost and suffered, but then was found and would again be with the family, loved. The method was not exactly warm, but it came from love. Where would such personality come from?
