how did they make trailer if it hasn't even filmed yet? (sorry i might be dumb)
trailer is filmed separately from the series. gmmtv will push out a bunch of unofficial trailers at the start of the year (its an entire event to introduce that years projects/create excitement/get sponsors) then the projects would get filmed throughout the year and they'd realise a second trailer with scenes from the official series.

so ep 1-5 is completely inside Greats mind. In ep 6 they explain that when your heart stops your brain gets 4 mins until it completely stops working. that’s what ep 1-5 was and a little bit of 8. from ep 6-7 we are in the real timeline. that is the true and only reality. in ep 8 we see a little bit of tymes mind, which is quite short, then it goes back to reality.
you are correct that episode 6 onwards is reality. there is no other universes. I also interpreted at the beginning that there was going to be two universes/timelines, one with Greats time travel ability and one without, however that didn’t end up happening.

dome is dead unfortunately. seems like ep 1-5 was in Greats head, ep6 they explain that when your heart stops beating your brain gets 4mins until it shuts down. ep 1-5 was literally just that. for the overall story ep 1-5 is quite useless which is unfortunate since it’s majority of the show.
ep 6-7 was reality. Tyme and Great both get shot. Great does get shot in the elevator in real life. ep 8 begins with tymes 4mins which is in his head but only last a little bit bc the rest of the ep is back to reality. They both survived being shot.
I guess to answer your question to the point of ep1-5 is it was poor writing. Great getting shot was something that genuinely happened and Dome was dead since the beginning episodes. You could say the series was showing what happens if they had made the right decision however I think it was just poor writing.
