Effie already mentioned it, but to me - personally - their most genuine comments about their characters and the…
That sounds wonderful. I adore these two so much. It's just that I'm not sure where to get my hands on the reaction videos in their entirety, with English subs and everything. I've only been able to watch a few clips so far :/
About Lu Guang Ming, I think the show makes his plan a bit more confusing than the book does. From what I understood,…
That makes sense. I do hope the second season makes this more clear. Will check out the XiZhao interview, thanks! Could you tell me where I can find the reaction videos in their entirety? I've only seen short clips on YouTube. And I hope they have as much fun reading the book as we did, haha!
Also, I love how passionate and active you still are in this space! I relate - I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get Sammy's Children's Day out of my mind anytime soon. When I'm not revisiting clips from the show or reading the novel, I'm watching XiZhao livestreams, concert videos, and everything in between. It's completely taken over my life, and I'm not complaining.
Hi friends! I recently finished this show after putting it off for a long time - I had started it many months ago, but was thrown off by the mismatched dub, and the fact that it apparently ended on a cliffhanger - and I am so beyond obsessed. I immediately rewatched the show, and now I'm almost done with the novel, which is genuinely brilliant? It's my first time reading danmei, and I'm in awe at how fast-paced, sharp, funny, and romantic this book is! I also love how beautifully it subverts the tropes associated with gangster romances. Despite the changes the show made, they really brought the story to life with the cinematography and soundtrack, and of course, through the actors' performances. Xixi and Zhao are phenomenal as Chusan and Liuyi. They are truly so special together, and I can't wait for Season 2.
I have a couple of clarifications, though. I know his motivations in the book, but can someone please explain what Lu Guangming's plan is in the show? He asks Inspector Xie to investigate Inspector Hua about accepting bribes from the triads, but then later calls Hua to tip him off? How does that benefit him? I'm guessing he wants to push Xie Jiahua closer to the truth, but I'm not clear on exactly how. Also, how did he get his promotion at the end?
One more thing - I've watched quite a few of XiZhao's livestreams, and they are very lovely! But I was looking for clips of them talking in-depth about the show and storyline, and how they approached their roles. It's clear that they have an excellent understanding of the characters and their relationship, and I wanted to hear more about their process, but most of the interviews I found were pretty surface-level/light-hearted. Is there somewhere I can hear them talk about this? Thank you!
