Man are we all gonna feel bad if Sun Jae reveals that that ugly S necklace was the last thing his mom left him…
Nah, if anything, I feel his mother must have had better taste. Sun Jae is truly his father's son. It's hilarious how that pendent has taken on a life of its own in MDL. Very reminiscent of Rebecca.
Also, this drama is so similar in tone to SOOD, the latter being one of the best dramas that I have ever watched.
People are going to come at me now. *sigh* Proceed further knowing that it's different strokes for different folks. The original Taiwanese drama is hands down better. Every aspect is miles better than the KDrama remake. Be it acting, story beats, themes, or soundtrack. Some would whine about the production values. You choose your poison. Do you want fancy sets or a very grounded story combined with fantasy? For perspective, SOOD is way better than LR, even though the latter is simply fabulous. Watch SOOD first. If you are dissatisfied, then watch the remake. You know what's ironic? I admire the leads of the remake from other projects. SOOD was truly a labour of love. I wasn't able to go past the first episode of the remake, and kept fast forwarding while I was at it. However, be warned you have to pay attention to every little detail. You can't just be a passive viewer. SOOD made me feel nostalgic, even though I have nothing to do with South East Asia in any shape or form. To sum it up, it's a beautiful drama. 🥰
P. S. : I also developed a special fondness for Taiwanese Mandarin. It actually helped me develop a taste for the Beijing dialect. Now, I like listening to both. However, still love the sound of the Taiwanese dialect a lot more than some other languages that I am familiar with. (No offence. I like the sound of some languages better than others.) It somehow sounds very relaxed and almost musical. If language is an issue, then, I don't really have any advice but to soldier on for the outstanding story.
I understand your perspective but I feel had they been too quick to make him fall for Sol without his memories…
Ooh. Cool. I get your point. I am never in favour of many episodes, so doing the E13 twist a little sooner might have been more palatable for the majority of this drama's audience.
On some reflection I think the Episode 13 twist was definitely the right way to go. It gets rid of the problem…
I understand your perspective but I feel had they been too quick to make him fall for Sol without his memories from the past timelines would have been too jarring. I have never been a fan of the instant love trope. This way they showed no matter which timeline Sun Jae would always be attracted to Sol. He does come off as a bumbling brat but, honestly, his personality isn't bad at all. It's just his behaviour juxtaposed with Sol's grief does come across as a little callous. Also, misery does add more depth to a person's life. I'd know.
