This was way better than I thought it would be reading the comments here. Certainly no masterpiece, but really cute and the pacing was good. Definitely underrated I'd say. I do wish that the FML wasn't dressed like an Amish housewife, but I can look past that.
I was very turned off at first glance, thinking it was an age gap romance with that English title (ew), but realized it wasn't and was pleasantly surprised. It was very cute.
i can accept them using a voice changer when talking while playing games but the fact they didn't in that phone…
I don't know why but they didn't include parts of the novel where the FML says that Lu Xun's voice sounds like Gu Xun's. She even absentmindedly mentions it to Lu Xun at some point in the novel.
I want to watch this , I have read novel , any novel readers can confirm with me , did this adaptation butchered…
They've added tons of filler. It wasn't too bad in the first few episodes, but with where they're at in the story, and the amount of episodes left, they're adding a lot to the later parts of the story. Episodes are going by super slowly in terms of story now. Su Zheng's part is clearly going to be expanded as the previews show him asking FML to marry him, which is not in the novel. I really wish they'd stop butchering stories like this, adding a bunch of filler episodes (often having to do with their career life more than anything else...).
YQL antics give me secondhand embarrassment lmao I love her! Those were fun first 4 episodes with some fast forward…
ML finds out first almost immediately after he rejects FML's confession. At the pace they're going, it shouldn't take too long. Probably a few more episodes, unless they stretch it out somehow.
I know I should just ignore people who come in to leave low ratings. One person left a rating of 1. She said she…
People have different opinions and methods of rating. It's a bit much to be this upset that someone doesn't like it as much as you do or gave a rating without watching all the episodes. It is not a sign of some sort of hate campaign... people just have different tastes.
Not believable story. People with no self preservation. ML was wounded so many times, impossible to survive. Double…
I liked it still but it really wasn't believable from the start. Why is everyone so old? FML is literally in her thirties irl, playing an unmarried girl who realistically should be in her teens.
As someone who studied history, I also hate how shows try to make the ML have progressive and modern ideas, at the price of everyone else back then looking like the worst people ever, as if it was some sort of moral choice that everyone back then made rather than a social/cultural norm (going to get your wife from the slave market), and the ML makes the right choice, while everyone else ("no men have EVER come to get their wife") makes the wrong one.
I'm so tired of c-dramas being so preachy and career-focused recently. I'm assuming it's because of the regulations and it's really draining the fun out of c-dramas.
I've watched a few of Ryan Ding's dramas and they're all great. but recently I found the drama quite boring. not…
Her acting is not great but they also ruined her character in this story by changing her background and personality completely from the novel. She's supposed to be badass and funny, but they made her weak and boring. I feel like the actress would have done better with the original character more than this one.
For a non novel reader like me, the drama is completely fine
Well there are plenty of adaptations where they have adapted without ruining the story. It's an adaptation, so I'm allowed to comment on how they adapted it, and my opinion is that they didn't do it well. The drama is fine but could have been amazing.
It is definitely not an ideal adaptation. But I am still enjoying it. Agree with the part it could have been so…
She's supposed to be dumb during this tribulation due to having been forced to drink too much of the memory loss potion by Chu Kong. In the book, there is a contrast between her usual stronger personality and how naive and dumb she becomes due to the potion, and that is what leads to the funny events and jealousy of the ML during this life. In the drama, she doesn't change much from her usual personality.

I'll still watch it and think of what could have been haha. I'm just sad that we don't get to see the type of strong, impulsive and funny FML that we see in the novel, as that would have made for a great dynamic between the leads.

What I'm saying is if they wanted to make the most typical story ever, they should have written their own crappy story instead of taking a good one and ruining it. You may not notice it, but in comparison to the novel, this drama is not good. It's convoluted for no reason and the FML is weak, whiny and useless. As an adaptation, it's bad.
The way they've just butchered this life... the first one too, but this one it's really bad. I don't get why they take good stories and adapt them to this point where it's barely recognizable. Everyone's personality is completely different, as is the impact of every life on their love story. The SML is unnecessary but could have been worked in so much better than this. There's already a villain in the novel, why do we need another one?
