It's such a shame that many good hongkong-series aren't listed here in mydramalist.:(
He often plays goodnatured guys. He seems to be a great guy too in RL. Love him!
Correction: He's not taiwanese, he's Hongkong-Chinese.
He's a terrific actor, one of the finest and most versatile actors in TVB. And a great singer. A lot of his shows are missing here on the list. :( I fell in love with him in "Vengeance" (1992). He was so handsome and perfect as "Uncle Rain". And he's got a beautiful voice as well.

Yeah, it's kinda frustrating when you knew that they've made so many good movies/series before. The Koreans are now the best in producing tv-shows with compelling stories and great acting talent imo.
You were in HK? Wow! I so envy you!
I know, I can't believe that he's gone for 10 years already. :(

Yeah, I practically grew up with old hk-dramas (particularly those of the 90s).:) Unfortunately they aren't so well-known oversea even though they are so good. And it's also regrettable that Hk doesn't produce that kind of dramas anymore.:(
I've started this because of MYG, as she is a fine actress. But had to drop it after the first few episodes. As much as i want to finish it (just alone to see evil MYG and her acting), Seo Woo just ruined for me with her annoying and poor acting. If SW had a smaller role, than I could bear her for a few scenes... Never before had an actress left such a negative impression on me, and that's not only because of her plastic face.-_- (sry, if I offended her fans or those who loved this show, but that's just my opinion)
I've watched it out of curiosity because it played a major part in the korean wave. I'm very critical when it comes to hyped movies and dramas, so my expectation were high. But I was surprised how addicted I became and how much I enjoyed this drama. It truly deserves the hype and every recognitin it got. Excellent cast, nice soundtrack without being too penetrant, great acting from everyone (which is usually not the case in most of dramas), good pacing and execution. The plot never felt dragging despite the huge numbers of episodes. Through this drama I got to know some fine actors such as Song Il Gook, Bae Soo Bin and Han Hye Jin.
This movie is just a piece of art and it also offers a different view of the first emperor of China than he is usually portrayed.
That said it doesn't diminish the fact that he was a cruel, paranoid ruler, but if you just watch this movie from artistic perspective than it surely is a refreshed take on.
Some talents feel wasted on this drama. It's not all that bad, but it's not that great like the hype would suspect it too. Maybe my expectations were too high too after all those praises I've heard. If the plot weren't that repetitive (like dong yi being framed all the time) and lesser flashbacks, they could've made the plot more compact and therefore not that dragging. I think I would've liked Dong Yi a lot better, if she weren't being portrayed a victim all the time, and being too idealistic. HHJ's acting was a lot better in BL than here. Other characters also feel flat (mostly the writer's fault than the actors', I guess). Jang Hui is the most interesting character, and the actress also did a great job. I've felt pity for her and even cried for her fate when the character is supposed to be the main antagonist and hated. The soundtrack and costume are great though.
She's my role model, what a beautiful, elegant and strong woman! She shows how a woman can be strong yet not losing her feminity. She doesn't look her age at all!
I may be the only one, but I find the villains in this show more interesting than the main characters and both the actor and actress were convincing. Nam Gyu seems to try too much to appear cute, pretty and naive. Lee Yo Won is actually a good actress, but her character was too gloomy. I guess the writer wanted to emphasize the difference between the two souls. I think I would have like the scheduler more, but he actually annoyed me a bit. I don't know if it's because of Jung Il woo's wooden perfomance (many will stone me to death for that remark, but that's just how I felt). Overall a good story with an unique idea.
BSB looked his best in this drama, he was really hot and gorgeous. I like his and LSY's perfomance, great acting on their part. The show started rather weak (the first few episodes were quite ridiculous) but got better, particularly the later half kept me on the edge. I found Han San Jing, though an attractive man, a bit wooden as an actor, he overacted sometimes. HSH also gave a stiff acting in this drama, as well as some of the supporting cast. I skipped most of the part between the younger brother and his assistant, their romance was boring and there's practically no chemistry. The actress who played the mother was the best imo.
I like how the drama shows that ppl only see their own pain and are blinded by it which eventually causes them hurting each other more and more.
Though certainly not a masterpiece, an overall enjoyable show.
He caught my eyes when I saw him in Jumong, I thought "who is that pretty guy?". He was so beautiful as Sa-Yong (long hair suits him). But moreover, I think, not everyone can pull off this quite difficult role without overacting.
His acting is very natural und he proved his versatility on various occations. Pls, more main roles for this talented actor with the beautiful, expressive eyes!

Happy New Year! thx for adding me in your friends list!^-^
I am really not sure if I should watch it.I watched the japanese version before and I was sure that was enjough…
I also recommend you to watch the original one. My sis watched both version and said that the korean one is better. Hence I've watched the korean one first and am now watching Maou, but I also have to say that Maou is good, but the korean one is better. It's darker, more mature and complex. But since it takes its time with the characters and the story development, you have to be a patient, especially since you''ve already watched Maou and know the story.
Though this version seems to be more popular and far more well-known than the original korean version (I guess the cast of mainly idols plays a significant factor, especially with an Arashi-member involved it's bound to be more popular), I still prefer the latter one. If you think Ono is great (and he did surprise me positively with his convincing acting) then JJH is brilliant. Ikuta wasn't bad, but he certainly wasn't on par with Ono either, let alone with UTW.
The Devil is more mature, more suspenseful, detailed in plot and character development. I also like the music better, and even the supporting cast was great which is not the case with Maou (hated Ryoko's portraying of the female main).
This list is not completed. But then again, many TVB-series of the 90s and 80s aren't on mydramalist.;( As one of the five Tigers he is certainly one of my favourite HK-actors. He's such a versatile, expressive and talented actor and his famous, soulful eyes are captivating and beautiful. I grew up watching him and he was and is still one of the most attractive asian guys I've ever seen. Keep the good work, Tony!
