I get that the drama is trying to convey how cultural difference in love can cause drama. But the way FL is behaving…
I’d say it’s somewhat accurate. Koreans tend to be jealous and insecure in relationships. Obviously not all of them are like that and it depends on the individuals, but in Korean culture jealousy is normalized.

I'm hating Rin's mother. I really hope she doesn't show up much more
Seems like the theme is they both have overbearing families.

Sorry but Netflix pisses me off. Only one episode per week? Really? So I have to watch again 1-3 to catch up what…
It’s a TV show in Japan, so they’re airing it once a week.

Sometimes there are very awkward moments in this drama, as if the actors were behaving like 10-year-olds. When…
I don’t think anyone hides in the closet, it’s more like a Shojo manga stuff. And it doesn’t translate well into a live action drama.

I've never watched a K-drama or J-dramas before, but people being surprised at how they act make me think how Koreans and Japanese actually act in realistic situations are not being realistically portrayed in dramas. Because well, that's kinda how a typical Korean or a Japanese would act in a relationship. Which is, yes, immature so it feels like it's their first love or something.

Stereotypically (not everyone is like that, of course), the Korean would often want to get things their way, and the Japanese often have trouble communicating. That's why these kinds of clashes typically occur when a Japanese and a Korean get together in a relationship. Again, not saying everyone in either countries are like that.

I think the show was obviously influenced by the famous Korean and Japanese couple YouTuber called Tomotomo. The Korean girl is the "creative" one but is sloppy and can't cook or clean, and the Japanese guy does all the cooking and cleaning for her. They seem to be going strong and get along extraordinary well, and the couple is now pretty popular among young Korean girls.

Maybe it's just me and it's really early to judge but I kinda dislike fl. She just met met guy but wants everything…
You must not have dated a Korean person before lol. It's considered culturally normal in Korea to text your partner even during at work, which is of course generally considered unacceptable in Japan. Which is why these clashes occur, and I'd say it's a pretty realistic portrayal. Of course, these are just stereotypes and not everyone in either countries are like that, but there are general trends and stereotypes. The stereotype between a Korean and a Japanese is that a Korean texts too often, and Japanese text too infrequently.

If a Japanese person acted like that then he/she would be called a "menhera" or basically "the crazy boyfriend/girlfriend". But that kind of behavior would be considered normal in Korea.
