i love a good redemption arc but throwing it at the very end after the grandma has been so despicable... chief kwon why must you be the voice of reason.
I needed more drama in the scenes when the leads showed the grandma what a bitch she is. Now they are the ones…
it’s gonna be the stereotypical “oh I was projecting my own feelings onto my grandson bc my only son died just out of a shit scenario” and they prove to the grandma that he IS and HAS ALWAYS been a reliable successor and she apologizes and cries for forgiveness since that’s the only family she has. but there’s a part of me that is hoping Ju Yeon is like no I don’t need you and turns his back on her (a girl can dream…)
8 weeks have flown by and i can say i really enjoyed this drama with a few things i didn't quite enjoy as much.
LND brought laughs, love and A LOT of tears for me. i wish they delved deeper in seokryu's POV when it came to their relationship because we got a deep insight through her past one and how they navigated through that with her illness and it was pushed aside as the relationship was more seunghyo's POV.
but one thing i did enjoy (where some may disagree) is how realistic it came to be with life reagrding family, friendships and relationships, and how everyone around you reacts differently to things. not all characters were meant to be cookie cutter and enjoyable. i know a lot of people didn't like FL's mom but some moms DO act that way and feel inferior and project their insecurities on to others and that's life.
i don't wanna go too in depth but i'll say one more thing. i'm going to miss this show and JungJung couple. i hope they have more projects together in the future <3
gives me a laugh how the mom's went bragging about their kids' accomplishments and endeavors to bragging about their in-laws' accomplishments and the things they've given them.
im halfway through episode 16 but needed to pause because i can't stop crying over the fact that seokryu's dad went to seunghyo personally to ask him to renovate his restaurant for her. Guen-sik, the dad that you are. i love that man, epitome of being a whole-hearted person.
also the kissing scene between seokryu and seunghyo (and his ears being super red hehehe) at the end with haein singing his ost in the background… they did that for me honestly. I LOVE love.
Episode 15 left me with a warm feeling in my heart. i love how they closed up certain storylines in a nice way. the relationship between both the men duos always gives me a laugh and i love their dynamics with one another. sad to see this drama end tomorrow
i liked the importance of seokryu and dong jin's sibling relationship during this episode. it gave them an in depth look into themselves and how they actually view each other from their own eyes. giving them strength on who they really are because they didn't see themselves as someone who was strong-willed or have any significance.
seunghyo's dad.... man he is a loser and i love him so much for it LOL
the dan ho plot line was spoiled a bit for me but i'm glad moeum and him had that moment together, where she was fully able to understand his pov about his feelings on everything and just needing to protect yeondu because losing your entire family carries such a heavy weight and your outlook on life completely changes. but the way moeum sobered up right away when he confessed in front of her and her mom... i kicked my legs in the air
okay back to the main couple, it's refreshing to see them communicating about their feelings even if you gotta push it a little. so much fluff between them this episode, v cute v wholesome. i'm a bit worried about the proposal part of tomorrow's episode but it could be for someone else and they just made it seem it was him idk. i don't want to think about it
okay one more comment about the ending scene for episode 12. Haein is such an outstanding actor. his facial expressions, mostly in his eyes. you can feel every emotion he’s feeling in that moment.
their little mannerisms during the kiss scene showing that it’s okay and to keep going. seunghyo scanning seokryu’s eyes and the gulp. he really is the king of microexpressions and I don’t think I’ll ever shut up about it.
there's so many things i enjoyed about this episode. seunghyo's parents story and how lovey dovey they are now, especially his dad falling into the downbadifcation trope, my heart!!! i'm glad they cleared up the misunderstandings.
mo-eum truly is one of the best written character's in this show. her emotional maturity really shines and it's refreshing; especially during the seesaw scene. how she heard out seokryu's problems and gave her advice and then went to defend seunghyo so seokryu could understand his perspective and not wanting to cause any more complications between the two.
man, i LOVE a slow burn!! the build up to their relationship and navigating it as it goes on. the first kiss being innocent and sweet and boom the second kiss being so passionate. seunghyo communicating his feelings and the consent.. AHHH. their chemistry is chemistrying and i couldn't ask for anything more. and now i understand why hae-in said not to watch this episode with your parents LMAOOO
the focus on seunghyo and his relationship with his parents this episode was so good. but one thing i've gathered about everyone's relationship in this show, everyone has such poor communication skills and obviously it's for the plot but the amount of times i just yell at my screen to communicate something so basic but they only do it under extreme measures... sigh. but it does give a realistic feeling to it all and i can't help but always resonate with the characters and their emotions at the end.
the ending scene with seokryu and seunghyo in the sunflower field, even my heart fluttered and i got butterflies. it all made sense and it just fit them.
side note: jung hae-in, the actor that you are. he deserves his flowers. the way he conveys his emotions just through his eyes. you feel it all; the love, the longing, wanting to be cared for, envy. it all shows and it makes everything so much better.
episode 9 and 10 are by far my favorite so far. ya i get everyone is fed up with the ex's storyline but i feel like it's an integral part into who seokryu is and who she becomes after the fact. we learn her back story, we learn her struggles with cancer and what came after her surgery and how she chooses to navigate her life from that point on. she went through something traumatic and the way people handle things will always be different and she chose the easiest (which it wasn't for her, clearly) decision to keep it a secret from her loved ones and she clearly acknowledges that it wasn't the right choice at the end of episode 9. and the one person she tried reaching out to, ignored her soooo. but seeing how the closest people to her reacted to the news and how they chose to cope/handle it, makes the whole situation realistic to me. all in all i think that storyline was wrapped up nicely. but what i really want to know is what's going on with Seunghyo's mom and how i WISH the dad would just communicate with her about everything instead of jumping to the divorce route but i'm sure we'll get a clear explanation in the next coming episodes...hopefully. need all misunderstandings cleared up. dating era incoming tho!!! and i'm excited
chief kwon, the woman that you are. that's my goat
