I cried.

I cried. A few tears after my sniffling. But who'd have thought that Blood would ever create such a moment--the wedding--where I would! It totally threw me. It was a beautiful moment and what a way to showcase Ji Sang's warm heart. It also really made me so fond of Ri Ta.

To be honest I find Ri Ta and Ji Sang to be so sweet, awkward, and cute together! Especially when she backs him up over the blood samples. When they go out to eat and she comes up with 100 Q&A on vampires. (Which helped me add things to the mythos list. However, I will not be adding the bathroom part since if you eat, it has to come out!) Plus, the wedding where she made Ji Sang go up as the groom.

Speaking of! Wow, what a way to take this tear inducing moment and turn it into fear! Not to mention that cliffhanger. Blood is surprising me on all fronts. While I have a suspicion as to what the aunt and uncle's secret might be, I enjoy that the show is trying to make a complex show and still keep a strong story going. What a rush! Everything feels like just the right kind of blend for a this vampire drama. Espeically since the vampire mytho behind Blood is coming out!

On the vamp mytho here's what we know:

- Vampires may have been extinct when the first infected died, but then they came back after the bones of dead vampires were dug up and a new virus created. (Cool idea!)

-Vampires can't taste, but can still eat whatever. (That would suck.)

- Ji Sang eats a condensed blend milk and albumin. And vegetables and little carbohydrates.

- Antibodies in the blood can have a negative effect on vampires.

- Red blood cells make them go crazy, but they don't need them.

- Vampire can't get too hot, makes them feel like they have flu/painful.

- UV lights still hurt their eyes, even with Ji Sang's special pills.

- They run cold, and it's painful to have a normal temperature.

- Other vampires can sense each other by hearing dolphin like sonar waves. (Or scent?)

- Can they control animals? Or just dogs.

- Dawn and dusk sunlight burn/hurts. (Any other times?)

- Vampirism is caused by a virus.

- Super strength and speed.

A slower episode.

This was a slower episode. Despite having to say goodbye one of my favorite of the Bad Boy Gang, I shall miss is funny/dramatic faces. (Even his hair had been growing on me.) Even, despite Jay Wook making his move to instigate himself in Ji Sang's life.

Don't get me wrong, this episode does a lot of developing the story. And some very cool tie ins to how everyone is "playing the game". Even people we thought would be minor players. It also helped to really develop Ri Ta and her relationship with Ji Sang.

Overall I'm starting to crave this show like these vampires crave blood! I look forward to getting my next fix! I'm still really bumped that nothing has been done to develop Hyun Woo (Ji Sang's "brother", I hope I got the name right.)

Pay off!

Back to the island where we first met! Well one part of the chase is done. It's kind of sweet that only one party knows that they've already met. It makes things more humorous, and as I've said sweet. Despite my initial reaction to Ri Ta she's groan on me. Ri Ta and Ji Sang may not be burning with the heat, but they're a cute couple right now and who know by the time the show is over they may have some real chemistry. Either way I enjoy the slow build up between the too.

Part of my need for more on side characters was even answered. A flash back for Jae Wook involving an old patient helped to create some humanity. Though in the end it's clear his old mentor is right, man is delusional and trying to justify his need for power.

I enjoy the medical twist playing out where blood not only becomes Ji Sang's enemy from his need to have it. But because the pills he was taking to suppress the cravings have now made it his weakness by literally making him weak and paralyzing him.

That plus the big play by Jae Wook makes for one heck of an episode, and cliffhanger! And I have to say that despite everything that is going on I'm glad the medical relationship of vampirism being a disease, and the fact that all of the characters here are pretty much doctors, is still very much a part of the show. Medical dramas have always been a weakness of MINE. Toss vampires into the mix, and I'm a happy woman!

On the vamp mytho here's what we know:

- Vampire can't get too hot. (As in normal people temp.)

- UV lights still hurt their eyes, even with Ji Sang's special pills.

- They run cold. (But why sleep on an ice bed and take ice baths? Do they heat up when left to their own devices?)

- Other vampires can sense each other by hearing dolphin like sonar waves.

- Can they control animals? Or just dogs.

- Vampirism is caused by a virus.

- Super strength and speed.

The suspense!

Anytime a character is working out the truth behind the vampire, you know that they are a vampire, it always thrills me. It's something about the chase. So as Ri Ta is putting the pieces together, I can't help but get this thrill! What I love even more is that Ri Ta's friend drops her real name and Ji Sang hear's it in passing. It rings a bell . . . but why should he know that name?

Yes! It's two fabulous build ups! Drama! Overall this show is awesome. It's not a brilliant piece of work, but another vampire show out of South Korea for me to love! The medical drama aspects of it sweeten the deal.

The players in the show are all interesting and I enjoy finding out what "game" there playing and as one character says it "which game the big players are playing". At this point I am craving a lot more details about certain characters such as Hyun Woo (that's Ji Sang's brother/friend?), Il Nam and a few others. However, each episode is so packed that I can't begrudge the slow reveal of information on them.

An addiction!

*Somehow my original review got deleted when I hit edit.*

Overall I was really disappointed that Ji Sang went after the bad guys. Part of me felt like he should have felt like he was being baited. However, my revenge hungry side can't totally agree with that. Go. Fight. Win!

Jae Wook's "games" are definitely interesting to watch. The actor is definitely creating a villainess character that I'm both drawn, and repelled by. Good job. Not to mention the faces that one guy from the Bad Boy Gang keeps tossing out as he battle Ji Sang. I'm still trying to catch his faces while watching the action scenes!

Ri Ta is becoming a bit more of a likable character here. She was funny and had pretty cute moments to intereact with Ji Sang. It looks like Ri Ta's character will be a slow build up as well as the couple. The side characters are still getting some time to intergrate into the story and that's usually a good thing, and thankfully is here.

Overall these episodes are flying by and this one is no exception! While the show is predictable and not much is a shock, it's good comfort food. It's giving drama fans everything we love about dramas, and building a solid story!

Mrs. Yoo . .

"Mrs. Yoo. You know this pendant, don't you?"

Boom in you're face!! The moment I've been waiting for. And what a nice cliffhanger. Now to see if all my other predictions are correct. It's always an affair. Always.

Overall at this point I'm watching this show for the characters. (Yeah, I say that with every episode review.) This episode does a great job of feeding the romance here, which for the most part is neglected. To be honest none of the romances here have any heat. But sometimes sweet romances are just as good. After all the guys are really "becoming cuter and cuter" as the series progresses.

This episode is moving things right along for the home stretch.

Painful.

It was iffy getting into the first few episodes. Over dramatized dramas are hard for me to get into. But as a drama fan I've grown and Golden Rainbow had a lot of promise. Don't get me wrong it's all kinds of crazy insane yeah-that-would-happen moments that I hope no corrupt society could let go. Justice! After I sunk into the drama and I knew everyone I was hooked. The cast of children was awesome and I was dying to figure out how all this would end. Especially Baek Won! She was the female lead that I was waiting for to shake up my drama viewing. She's super woman taking care of an entire family through all kinds of crazy hardship. Smart, hardworking, and tough. Sure she cried, but it was called for. When Baek Won cries it is for a reason.

Then the time jump happened and it all became painful. I still wanted to know how everything would end. Needed to. Which is why I clunk on desperately for as long as I could! What happened? Well Baek Won became an unbearable character. The writer rewrote her to be one of the MOST ANNOYING female leads I've had the displeasure of watching. Why? Why would they take an amazing character and do a 180 like that?

Point is the drama died, and I no longer care to find out if Baek Won develops back to her old self. Watching this episode has been like watching the past episodes, Baek Won is dead. She's not coming back.

Plus, having Kim Han Joon rejoin his family was horrible. The man's "kindness" is killing them. His kids pulled themselves together and watching him setup their destruction was too much. In fact, most of the character became unbearable with the time jump. Ones that were annoying became painful to watch.

How is it possible . . . .

How is it possible that actress Go Ah Ra (Soo Sun) could not respond to the freaking amazing talents of Lee Seung Gi (Dae Gu)? Lee is an amazing actor, but there is one thing that as a girl fan I'd never get tired of even if he was a bad actor. What is it? Lee kissing! Anyone or anything! No really. If he kissed his own freaking arm it would be hot as heck to watch. Because Lee can kiss act like no one else!

So I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say it was probably the director who told Go Ah Ra to remain cold as a fish. You know where the girl half of the kiss doesn't do much. Because despite it being a cold kiss, Lee is working his magic. He can't do cold! Never! And I can't believe Go Ah Ra wasn't all up in that! There's secret hot kissing footage somewhere.

Rant ended. Reviewer in.

The kiss scene was setup very cute and made up for that "accident" kiss from the beginning. It was great to have the girl make the move, and the guy warm up to it. Plus, everyone else's reactions! Priceless. This cast makes the show!

Overall the villains "win" because Soo Sun's mom is nice. (Push over.) It doesn't really do much to setup up or progress the mystery. Maybe if your bad at predicting plots it will be enough. But I've predicted waaaaaaaay ahead by now and it's all going according to standard boring scripts that have already been done before.

The detectives here made the episode. Pulling together for Soo Sun's mom and their interactions both caring and humorous. Some small ground is broken in new development for the characters, so I'm happy enough for now.

Plus, with that ending and only six more episodes left! Things are going to have to move fast!

Not the strongest start.

To be honest I'm quite confused with when the beginning stuff of the episode took place, to how much time has passed. So that's my first big gripe.

The second is that the camera shots are ambitious, but . . . cheap? Tacky? Something seems off about the filming of this first episode. Along with the fact that some of the acting is super cheesy. Even for a drama.

However, it's pretty fun. Doo Rim is going to be a strong female lead and I just can't help but loving them when I stumble across them in dramas. It's already clear that Lee Hong Ki is beyond ready to shed those silly boy roles he always has. Oh, he is great as Choi Kang Joo the cold and aloof lead, with serious smarts and sadly no people skills. Fans can be happy with his leading role debut.

Even with the initial cheesy acting and bumpy start things are setup quite nicely for how events fall into place. And having already season episode 2 and having things turn out much more polished, things to get better.

It's fun!

Mash up drama with a rocky start!

Birth of a Beauty is a K-drama clearly inspired by many other dramas. Sometimes that can be a bad thing, and others it can totally working. Blending two of my favorite drama things: the "beauty transformation" and revenge!

Already it's clear that Birth of a Beauty has more ideas tucked in, but I won't waste time picking them apart. I will say that for the first part of episode 1 I was a little lost, the story telling does not flow smoothly. And the description on Dramafever had me thinking the storyline was something else. So to say it was a rocky start is an understatement. After pushing through and things clicking together it definitely works.

The female lead is so WRONGED that it goes beyond dramatized, and I love it when dramas do that. So that any revenge hijinks from here seem completely acceptable. We all love the drama. It's extremely over the top in this first episode and it will be interesting to see how things settle down for the next 20 episodes, because if every episode is this crazy it could get really tiring.

Overall I like Han Ye Seul as Sa Ra, well soon to become Sa Ra. It's interesting how they through in an amnesia bit and then sad how they made her "revenge" idea only be that she's now beautiful. Clearly Han Tae Hee is using Sa Ra, cause he really has done his homework on how to get revenge for Sa Ra. I'm excited to see how that plays out because the blurb for the drama is clearly not doing this show justice.

Long story short I'm in for episode 2.

Ah!! Developing nicely!

Putting aside the love square, when including the male angel. The love triangle totally has me all girly and squealing. Usually by now I'm upset that they wrong guy is clearly going to get the girl, in this case both male leads have swept me off my feet. It helps their both nice and helpful to the lead. Woo Hyun is all oppa for Seul Bi, but I also like how they're friends. Seeing that development is wonderful. Sung Yeol has issues, almost bordering on evil where is step-mother is concerned. With Seul Bi's help we're getting to slip past that mask and see a pretty awesome guy. Be still my heart, they're overloading my cute quota!

Other obligatory characters are now getting more fleshed out. The "mean girls" and "mean boys" have motivations and agendas behind them. Which is usually one of the many reasons I enjoy dramas, fleshed out villains. Sadly I haven't been enjoying them as much lately in my Kdramas. Despite it's cuteness I think High School: Love On is going to do a wonderful job bringing in the joy, drama, and tragedy.

As to the funky animal noises, I think they only when off maybe twice. But every time I hear them it pulls me out! *sighs* As long as they stop are remain only used once or twice I'll be happy.

Bromance and a smart lead?

First off well done to not only have a spunky and clever leading female, but to make her intellegent in school. Thank you.

That said the bromance/rivalry that is building in this episode is all kinds of awesome. The actors behind Shin Woo Hyun and Hwang Sung Yeol have my attention! While Hwang Sung Yeol is a little evil, I enjoy both of them and love the chemistry that is sparking on the screen! Not only am I excited to see this love traingle grow, but to see the bromance.

This is a great high school romantic comedy, with just the right touch of fantasy.

Solid follow-up!

Oh, goody! Not only does the first episode impress, but the follow-up episode proves this show is good! The ghost story presented here wasn't as moving, in fact I think some revenge would have been a good idea. (But the ghost was a clueless sweety-pie.) The thing that made this episode great was how a "minor" ghost story pulled in Joo Joong Won past and the kidnapping that has plagued his life. Leading to a twist that made me give it a crazy-arms-flailing moment of glee! Smooth and relevant storytelling, that's all I ask for.

It did feel a little strange that Joong Won was showing some jealousy over Gong Shil getting some male attention from, well, another male. Hopefully they're not jumping the gun too soon. I like it when the interested parties in the romance don't just randomly decide that they're head-over-heels-I'll-die-for-you in love. Let it build. Let it build.

This is the point . . .

where viewers will finally know whether or not they're all in for this drama. The seventh orphan has now joined Kim Han Joon family! With her new name, Kim Chun Won, she takes her place as the second oldest sibling.

All of the key players seem to be in place and viewer are given a clear image of how each character operates. It's going to be great drama!

It's wonderful to see the ties of true family, revenge, devious business intrigue, and some budding romances. While it seems slow, this show is pretty fast paced with all of its plots weaving an intricate story. Looking forward to the 50 episodes ahead. Though it will be sad to see the current actors go for the next age jump.

Really glad the ratings are up! However, this was a hot mess.

Really glad the ratings are up! The start of this episode made me nervous. It was a new scene, but Min Hyeok was saying what he had said before in a different scene. Then suddenly it jumped to a scene from last episode. Timeline mess up. I know sometimes a drama picks up where the last episode left off, but then it's slightly different wording/things. However, this was a total oopsy. Especially as they were eating in the office and this one had them at a restaurant repeating what they'd said about her working for him. Then back to the office again. Then the same threat happened!

To be quite honest this episode was a hot mess. I'm really nervous about the drama. So Minn Hyeok owns a software/gaming company. Then he's a criminal expert because he "wanted to be a criminal when he grew up"! WTF! Not to mention how this sudden creepy murder/kidnapping case is taking center stage for the drama. The plotlines are all over the place and I'm seeing a lot of things I don't care for.

For instant Gook Doo apparently has a girlfriend. That immediately knocks him out of the running for Bong Soon. Bong Soon needs to find out soon and get over him. Also, Min Hyeok treats her like a jerk. There's not to much likeable about him. The ending alone was super annoying. Both guys yanking on her arm (*cough*wrist*cough*) and saying what she should do. I hope next episode she tells them both up! Not to mention that Min Hyeok needs to get better romancing techniques. I'm now realizing that complex love triangle is in the synopsis.

So negative aside I got tons of laughs out of this episode. All those older women swooning over Min Hyeok and getting excited that he's Bong Soon's boyfriend. Not to mention I love her friends reaction to her still be obsessed with Gook Doo. Preach girl! Not to mention her holding her food while Bong Soon set those bullies straight. (Ha-ha! Threaten a mans "jewels" and they'll always back down.)

What was with that plot with stealing the victim? That guy would have had to beat the nurses! Considering she is in critical care I find the whole think unbelievable. *sighs*

In the end this was such a mess. Still some fun, but it's making me super nervous for the rest of the episodes. This is one I hope does not get extended past 16 episodes.) There's still plenty of promise. Yet there is so much going on her it could go south fast. Especially trying to find a balance with the over the top humor, and this creepy murder/kidnapper.
