I Hear Your Voice Episode 9

silent_whispers So, this episode started off so strong. Blew me away. Hye Sung love for her mother truly shines throw and I had a few teary eyed moments. (OK, I cried a little bit.) It's powerful stuff. Not to mention the power of how much Soo Ha wants to protect Hye Sung. Moving. It's all powerful emotional whams to my soul.
Then after Soo Ha's plan to protect Hye Sung goes terribly wrong every thing goes to heck. The writing is still fantastic and I believe the catalyst for these events and the story had been written by lesser beings it would have been bad. Don't get me wrong I'm still super peeved. Because:
-Amnesia
-Sung falls back into her old law practices
-Time jump
To be honest since the writing is so good the time jump and amnesia flow pretty well. And as I've already started the next episode I can say that with confidence. What bothers me is that viewers only saw Hye Sung actually practice the law 4 times. One of those cases she pushed off on to Cha, and then the others none of the break through were her own. So really in my book Hye Sung is a bad attorney. Having her just revert back to her crappy blah-blah-blah of defending people irked me.
Why can't she realize that the people who love(d) her wanted her to try. To care about her job and give her all on it. Even Prosecutor Seo tells her to snap out of it. Looks like I'll be waiting for an amazing female attorney/prosecutor lead still. It sucks that what could have been a 10 out of 10 power house of an episode got smacked down.

From the trailers and stuff I do think this is South Korea's answer to Twilight. Unlike Twilight I'm enjoying the show at this point. Yes the special affects aren't the greatest out there. However, for a TV show they're not half bad. Plus, I like the overall look of the vampires. The white face paint in some shots looks like to much. But I enjoy the veins and green eyes that appear. Plus the classic creepy nails.
Ahn Jae Hyeon looks pretty darn fine as a vampire. All of those "vampire model" shots are perfect. The man is fine and clearly they're going to exploit this in Blood. After all fans love they're smexy vampires. It's just the way it is. Ahn also isn't that bad of an actor. Though You're All Surrounded is more of a comedy role, so it will be interesting to see how they have Ahn as Ji Sang. So far Ahn as Ji Sang works for me. He's a hero doctor and his bad-booty vampire moments are cool. Especially the episode ending. "Oh, look at me stand up after getting blown away by a missile. Let's just toss this cell phone over my shoulder for special effect."
Blood is campy, and for a vampire show that's not bad. The fight scenes are fun. Though the slow motion is over the top! Slow motion seems to equal vampire speed and strength. Though I'm guessing it's just easier to use that for special affects and keeps the show on a cheaper budget.
One of my favorite mythos about vampires is that it's caused by a virus and I love the idea of Ji Sang looking for a cure. As a first episode I think it sets up the current day Ji Sang well and giving viewers enough in the flashbacks to see what's led him up to this point. Thankfully I enjoyed said flashback. Which of late is usually not one of my favorite things in the opening episode. They're usually boring, to long, and don't give the right information.
Oh, and the villain! So over the top villainy! Surgeon Lee Jae Wook may be bad, but he's going to be oh so good lusting over. It never hurts to have a smexy villain vampire.
Another point for this show is that while I think the future love interest is in that flashback, her future self has not been introduced. Nor does the flashback overplay her. It thrills me when a show can take it's time introducing the players and concepts so that things don't feel rushed. (And then there isn't a ton of filler later on. Hopefully.)
I'm comfortable enough to go on to the next episode. It's fun! And my vampire fan self is loving it.

Love in the Moonlight Episode 5

Pretty much the best thing about this drama is watching Park Bo Gum. He and his eyebrows are beautiful to watch and are screenshot magic.
However, the whole story feels like a connect the numbers plot. I feel like the writer isn't even trying to be unique and is a duller version to a lot of other exciting dramas.
Is it the first one to try to feed of the success of another drama using the same recycled plot? No. However, it is on of the duller copies. Even though I'm having issues with Cinderella and the Four Knights at least it tries to have some original ideas.
The music and look of this drama is stunning. The dance that Ra On did and the shot's for it are beautiful. Heck, pretty much all of the cinematography is! This is a gorgeous drama and the water scene in this episode was a treat for the eyes.
However, I'm bored. So bored. There was some minor reveals that Ra On's true identity isn't just to hide that she's a girl but that she might be someone important bloodline wise.
Yet, seeing how predictable and unoriginal this plot is I don't care to watch and find out. None of the characters side or main truly interest me. I've seen them else where and liked them better then.
I'm dropping this. It bums me out that this is performing better than Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. I understand why Love in the Moonlight is a hit, but my brain won't let me go on.

Beautiful Gong Shim Episode 13

I admire the attempt to make a twist. Since the plot is pretty much in your face and the viewers are already aware of what happened and who the bad guys are. It just didn't mesh well. Because for a huge moment I thought the writer and decided to just skip a few things. So 15 days ago Dan Tae told his grandmother. That's great because it really bothered me that he didn't. I also enjoyed the behind the scenes stuff with setting up Dan Tae's plan to catch the culprit.
Sadly the story is battling with having what has made Beautiful Gong Shim so wonderful, and with the regular drama tropes. I honestly had hoped that the obviously already solved story would be taking a back seat to focus on other aspects. It's okay so far as we get to watch Joon Soo discover the truth and how he will react after the shock wears off. But I feel like this is the tipping point.
Oh, and I've been team Dan Tae for a while now. My heart still hearts for Joon Soo. Still Dan Tae being so open about liking Gong Shim was so sweet. So now after he's basically confessed and made Gong Shim fall in love with him he's pulling back. Because he likes her and doesn't want her to get involved in what he's in. Well he's still with her so anyone could connect the dots and use her against him. It's safer for her to know, and if he really wants to be with her keeping secrets is never good. -_-
I really enjoyed the cute moments here. The OST makes those moments even more adorable and warm hearted. I love seeing Gong Shim blossom. Even if she hasn't fully realized it, her opinion of her self worth has changed. Making her parents feel the same way as well. It still bothers me that Gong Mi comes first in their eyes and they'd take action in a heart beat for her when they'd have to pause to think for Gong Shim. Though you can't stay mad at Gong Shim's parents, they're too cute! They're coming around though and the mom tossing a certain someone on the floor is testament to that.
Here's to hoping this drama finds it's footing soon and stand firm.

Oh, so bad. I don't even know where to start.
The writing. There's definitely a setup here. But it's all rushed that the characters being introduced simply walk on screen and then a connection to another character, mainly Bo Nui, is quickly established. The humor made me cringe and relied heavily on drama tropes that I don't care for.
Not sure if it's the director, but the acting did not work for me. It feels stiff from all the characters. Bo Nui is clearly the down trodden happy eccentric. The cold genius of a lead, with a minor flaw. It's all so typical and I found the leads stiff in their roles.
This is one of those first episodes that I feel like it's nothing but one queue after another. A quick rush for a setup that I'm not too interested in. I think the big factor is that this episode is in such a rush that it doesn't setup it's characters right. Though I think, for me, it's going to be tough to care about the leads. They're very unlikeable.
It feels strange watching a first episode this bad after Mirror of the Witch, Dear My Friends, and Beautiful Gong Shim knocked them out of the park.

Wei Shao is so proud of his wife! All those sweet comments, but the boy was spying on her letters. I was a bit disappointed. I felt he needed to apologize, In fact, he has never apologized. Wei Yan is truly turning into quite the villain. Qiao Fan (I'm trying to figure out if she's a cousin or sister) is apparently a smart little lady! Reading between the lines and figuring out Qiao Man's message. Also, I love Qiao Fan's romance to her horse man! I really hope Qiao Man gets wise about Sei Yan and makes him pay!

Ahhhh, Wei Shao didn't get to save the day!!! Oh, and Wei Yan. Man he's ticking me off!! This is some crazy maneuvering. Don't think I didn't see Wei Shoa tucking his wife away. Is it because he's worried about what the other man will do, or because women can't resist him?Wei Yan is super cunning. I hope Qiao Man realizes how much!! Cause my girl needs to start fighting back!!! Cause he's pitting our leads against each other well.

Qiao Man has had enough of Wei Shao's mom! Oooooooo, that look! Wei Shao no longer wants to be parted from his woman and I love how he got out of leaving ASAP! I'm trying to figure out what Wei Yan is up to. Clearly he's out to get Qiao Man, but he was also playing some kind of political games abroad. I'm already disliking him. He's a Wei, but has fully embraced the cunning ways of the Qiao. This was such an intense episode!Also, I loved how Wei Shao was trying to help Qiao Man! Too cute!

I know it's been hinted at that those who should care for Wei Yan know him the least. Mainly his mother. It was heart breaking to realize she had no hesitation at drugging him. Especially considering he is not the type to want to do such things and he had said no. His mother basically tried to have him raped. It makes me sad that it clearly puts strain on Wei Yan and Qiao Man relationship. Though it's also a growing point. Something to push them past. For Wei Yan to realize that Qiao Man can be his heart and the person he confides in. That she will protect him and not harm him. It's good for Wei Yan to fully see his mother as the narcissist and selfish woman. To see that his wife will stand up and protect him. Even from those she shouldn't need it from.

Love is a battle field. Qiao Man is doing what she can for her sister and her family, but mainly her people. Wei Shao is still always on guard with her and he tricked her so thoroughly and tossed her out. Literally told his troops to murder her. He's not giving her chances to truly trust him. I feel kind of bad for his general who was just following orders. Wei Liang and Xiao Tao budding romance is priceless! I love how Xiao Tao is definitely not into him and just using him. Leading to Qiao Man still out maneuvering Wei Shao. This was an episode where both seek answers from their elders and start to realize that if they want more they need to be there for each other. To build the bond they want. Wei Liang, of course, seeks out answers from Wei Shao's advisor and I believe she must forge ahead to make things work.

Wei Shao has trust issues I get it, but he was so harsh with his bride. AND he should know she's smart enough not to leave evidence even if he thought she couldn't figure out how to get into the box. Qiao Man was awesome showing how she could get in if she wanted to. It's really fun seeing how Qiao Man manuvers people to get the outcomes she wants. Qei Shao should realize to others his out right need for war to win is how the Qiao operate in the shadows. The chemistry between the Leads is just sizzling!

Yes, he had a lot of work. BUT! He left her out there! He should have already learned that she IS the dowry just as much as the city. I enjoyed the "petty" move she did to get his chambers. BECAUSE he never though to see if where she would have ended up would have been clean or even ready. I like how she's showing that she's willing to care for him.

Oh, he got that lynx!!!! However, I am totally ticked at Wei Shao. To keep kicking and insulting Qiao Man . I just . . . ugh!!!!! Boy better shape up! Qiao Man deserves to slap him silly!!!!!!! I can already see a "rival" in Wei Shao's cousin. She's smart about how she snakes about.

Qiao Man is working her butt off here! I'm so glad she got to meet up with her sister again, and I wonder a bit if she knew she was being overheard . . . or just said those things to make her sister feel better. I love that the man her sister ran away with is the warrior that they need and that her sister will actually be helping out with some of Qiao Man plans. Wei Shao puffing up so proudly when he heard the comments was hilarious!!!! Things are definitely truly shaping up.
