Wei Shao, as usual, is a very thorough master landowner. He keeps eyes on all accounts and tries to keep ahead of calamities for the general populace. They continue to work better as a pair but there is plenty of bad blood between their families. Now that the canal will be extended to Rongjun, they see the new couple as an even bigger threat. Yan is handed a dagger to kill Wei Shao so he can be heir. He is considered a bastard so that is why he is allowed to live such a reckless life. He makes it clear he doesn’t care what happens to Qiao Man…to include death, but he draws the line at killing family. At least he has one. Qiao family is skeptical about wheat seeds.
