as novel reader myself i loved novel and I loved the drama too at the starting it felt like they changed alot of things and at the later part things were coming together just like in the novel so lemme list it out
1. they tone down the character of the lu xixiao( which was necessary cuz of censorship) in the novel lu xixiao was more of like bad boy who used to fight,drinks, smoke ,ride bikes and got many gf in past so as he was just highschool so they can't show everything like this they can't show him smoking or drinking as highschool in the drama we see him drinking after they graduated from school.
2. they changed the whole storyline at the starting,in the novel FML was 16 and ml was 17-18 ( i don't remember the exact age lol)while in the drama they made both of 18 which is a good change, and in the novel they focused more part of school life while in the drama they ended it very quickly as they started the school life during gaokao preparation
3. FML in the drama selling notes and tutoring wasn't in the novell ,she used to study with lu xixiao in novel but don't sell notes etc. lol she actually used to work at the arcade they show that part in the drama but differently cuz in novel the arcade was like core memory point of their school arc,and that's also the place where they meet like very often
4. they kept some part from the novel in the drama but they changed the context or scenario,example: the scene where one of girl was trying to take her life( in novel it happened during their school year but in the drama it happened after the gaokao exam results)
5.lu xixiao finding the truth earlier than the ending of their school arc in the novel, he found about the truth that zhou wan is gou yan daughter like at the end of their highschool arc in the novel but in the drama he found very earlier ,and in the novel jiang fan and gu meng didn't have that much scenes like in the drama they made them second leads cps( which I liked it),and so does gou yan exposure in the drama wasn't this much in the novel she was annoying in the novel they made her more annoying in the drama lmao
so starting few episodes may felt like they are all over the place for the novel reader cuz they changed the timeline of the starting otherwise after the few episodes the things are fitting together
that dosent even count as dating,in the drama when they broke up lu xixiao was getting drunk at a bar and there was this girl who sang on the stage and confessed her love to him while zhou wan send lu xixiao a msg sending him the money she owned him back that he never asked for (this happened after break-up)as he was already drunk he gor furious and reckless he agree to date the girl on the stage but he did not even paid much attention to her eventually after sometime he ended things with her when he realised his reckless behaviour,after that he never got closer to any girl for 10 years until he saw zhou wan again
no ,she was saying that after their breakup she was having nightmare of lu xixao covered in bl00d laying in front of her and she was trying to wake him up but he can't (in the dream)before their breakup lu xixiao got stabbed on the chest while saving zhou wan so that's what coming in her nightmares after their breakup cuz she was feeling guilt
just finished ,i can't express how much I love them ever since i STARTED reading the novel or when I saw them starting the shooting for the first time I knew lu xixiao and zhou wan will get justice by the BAOBAO and keyu ,oh god i feel like crying whenever i talk about them cuz it was like most fav novel and last few episodes made me cry i rarely cry on modern drama but this gawd even at the end my heart felt heavy ,i think it will be hard to move on ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
people yall should stop crticising both zhou wan and lu xixiao decisions they are 18 years old teenage went through such a traumatic events both of them have trauma that we can't measure,they are young they'll make the choices that they think other are saying is good but they'll be stubborn too ,zhou wan was literally pressured into breaking up with him she was already driven into the guilt too much but after the incident and grandpa talk she can't stop and thinking about hurting a'xiao any futher more,while on the other hand lu xixiao loved and still love zhou wan as he did 10 years ago y'all see it on his face he'll be angry, Fierce towards her which is indeed valid for him to be cuz from his pov she told him she don't love him ,how would u feel if ur loved one said this to you and a'xiao decision to that so called dating is not actually dating he didn't actually dated her i mean can't y'all tell from his face that he didn't wanted to he might have realised his reckless behaviour and then he ended the things with the girl
