Hu Xiu is such a green forest FL. she knows how to handle her ML haha. she is soft, gentle and strong at same time.
Also loving the vibe of this drama, it's pretty soothing, there are multiple moments that reminds me of a storybook in a world that is sprinkled with a bit of fantasy/magic. i especially love their rooftop scenes.
when zou yan sat on the stairs and said to herself, “i wish I could drink spirit dew now... was the dream so long that I can’t tell dream from reality?” the scene cut right to wei jiao raising a cup of coffee to his lips, but then stopped mid-sip, his hand lowering, head lifting, as if he heard her voice, as if he knew his ting yan is back.
moments later, he walked down the stairway and paused right where she was. their eyes met again in the perfect echo of their beginning: his cool glance down over his shoulder, her gaze lifting to meet his. she rose, tears shimmering in her eyes, and said, “i found you again.” at this, his face softened and smiled as if he was relieved. “do you know me?” he asked. “of course I know you,” she replied with quiet certainty. and then his eyes, his smile, carried that same knowing affection. --- i loved the ending 💕 i thought it was poetic, romantic, and very fitting for Sima Jiao and Ting Yan. there were enough hints (from both ep 1 and 33) to suggest they both remembered — not just each other, but the weight of all they had lived through.
it is as if the final scene is telling us that their love needs no further explanation. their love and bond is that deep and unwavering — not bound only to the heart, but etched soul-deep. no matter how much they’ve been through, or how many lives and realms they’ve crossed, they’ll always find their way back to each other. only this time, the weight of destiny, clans, and immortal burdens have finally fallen away.
Sima Jiao: Even if your soul were reborn, I have confidence that I would still recognize you. Ting Yan: If you can always be this confident, then I too have faith I could recognize you at first sight.
just rewatched ep 29. ugh it still hurts just as much as the first time, watching sima jiao disappearing, turning into stardust. it's like he didn't just leave ting yan but left me too. then i remember his unwavering confidence, that quiet certainty; that no matter what, they'll find their way back together.
p.s. am looking forward to see how ting yan will be the one to protect him and lighten his burdens this time, just as he once did for her. it'll be interesting to see her and him interacting with this new dynamic -- salted fish girl and demon queen ting yan vs. human emperor sima jiao
whenever i hear the opening notes of "old wounds" song, it just takes me right back to sima jiao's iconic glancing over his shoulder and their eyes meeting for the first time. these hauntingly beautiful notes were playing again when ting yan meets sima jiao once more in the mortal world. but this time it just hits differently, carrying a weight that feels achingly softer yet heavier, like a heartbeat remembering what words cannot hold—every memory, every scar, every kiss, every tenderness that belongs only to them. and with it come all the emotions of their journey, rising and folding into the music, as if the song itself remembers everything they lived through.
so not ready for this series to end. i'm already missing jiao jiao and ting yan. 33 episodes are way too short. their chemistry is seriously off the charts. hope they do a 2nd collab. dear directors pls make it happen. maybe next one he can be a vampire prince and her as vampire huntress in a modern setting. but anything would be good as long they are a couple.
Sima Jiao: True. But you have your own pace. Ting Yan: What if I never recover my memories? Sima Jiao: It doesn’t matter. We have plenty of time. We can start anew.
one of the so many things i love about sima jiao is the way he loves ting yan. he gives her room to breathe, to stumble, to move at her own rhythm. he knows when to reach for her and when to hold back, respecting her space while still finding gentle ways to let her feel his heart. he knows when to take a step forward and when to wait, but always so patiently. it's a love that does not demand, that does not rush — a love so certain it can wait a lifetime, or even beyond that.
he has such a rare balance of maturity, quiet confidence and vulnerability. his very presence makes you feel so completely safe, even through the screen. even as i listen to his words, i find myself relaxing, as if my heart has finally found a place it can rest without fear. how can one not love sima jiao? he is just everything 💕
i really just want to say how much i appreciate this drama for respecting us viewers IQ. this is part of the reason i am also enjoying the 2nd arc even with the amnesia trope. they didn't just conveniently forget about the truth spell, in fact they used it quite wisely, making the story even stronger. and more importantly, ting yan remained calm enough to use her logic, questioning, analyzing and piecing together the real truth, even while still struggling with the very human, conflicting emotions of it all. there are no pointless misunderstandings, no unnecessary dragging out of conflicts. so far, the stuff they have added seems to only make sima jiao and ting yan's love story even more beautiful, more moving and emotionally powerful.
p.s. the preview for ep 25......goodness what is this drama doing to me...
omg I thought i was the only one who was down so bad for this ship that my heart LITTERALLY hurts when I watch…
haha you are not alone, i feel the same. i just love jiao jiao and ting yan so much, it's like wrecking my heart lol but hurts so good you know? at this point i am just surrendering to this obsession or whatever this is.
i don't think i have ever seen a drama couple's love that is this tender, to the point it hurts yet also healing, if that makes sense. sima jiao and ting yan's love makes the heart flutter and ache at the same time, painful and beautiful in the same breath. this series just gets better and better.
this drama is seriously so addicting...i keep rewatching the previous episodes and also watch fanmade or bts clips while waiting for new eps. love sima jiao and ting yan 💕
i think from now on whenever i hear thunder, i will think of that epic thunder tribulation scene, of how sima jiao look so good taking on the lightning/thunder for the girl he loves. who knew thunder can be romantic?
