Episode 3 is such an fucking 10/10 episode I cannot. The presentation of the building curiosity after someone catches…
ikr, the chance meetings and how at the end the guy said maybe again another chance meeting will happen, it's almost as if he didn't go meet her intentionally. I love the visuals of this drama, reminds me of japanese shows.
Thank you ~ and yes I‘ve seen It’s okay that’s love but it’s been a long time :0 … the plot twist is…
ah, haha, I really need to finish IOTL too. Tbh, flower boy next door is one of my go to drama because I love the pairing of park shin hye and yoon shi yoon. Also considering he is such a delight in this drama. Bringing positivity and joy whereever he is going. So I would totally suggest picking it up again but of course it depends on your own preference as well. :D I would say go for it, haha. I love the viki subtitles cause they are so much detailed.
what a nice article, I want to try the first drama you mentioned, sounds interesting! Also have you watched it's okay that's love? With gong hyo jin and jo kyun sang, also definitely a drama having a lot of interesting diagnosis on mental health and psychological aspects in general. I still need to finish the drama though haah. Also like someone else said, mad for each other is definitely very good. Especially with the main lead's anger management problem lol. I also really like Flower boy next door, Park Shin Hye's social anxiety problem was quite realistic.
Omg literally, I've spent hours trying to figure out how they should have played 7 of Hearts... and now I finally…
Hii, thank you for sharing your view on this. I was also thinking that there had got to be a reason to save everyone, like they got so scared the minute the game said only person gets to live. That must have been the trick. Although I am not sure, I got what you meant, but there sure had to be a way so all of them could live. Too bad that the friends died. :'(
Okay, so who actually read the original novel? I'm confused who is the male lead, is it Seo Ji Hoon then? I thought…
The synopsis doesn't mention that the king gets the girl. It just says the girl is his first love, and in order to protect her, he requests the matchmaking agency to transform her into a noble woman. We will see I guess lol, who gets the girl haha.
-Hi, thanks for the article! Very well written and concise too. I completed the drama this weekend in almost 48 hours lol after dropping it on the 1st week. Have to say this is one of the sleeper hits of this year and considering how it didn't gain any buzz [which it should have had], I am just really glad that it was such a complete winner all in all since it also ended on a high note. I will give the whole credit to the drama writer [ not the webtoon one] since she took a different route from the webtoon but still managed to keep the original spirit of the webtoon, in such a bright, positive manner. -My favorite character is baek jin sang for obvious reasons haha. The actor played this wacky, unexplainable mess of a character so well, he just became the character, heart and soul. I also liked your fitting description of baek jin sang and ruda's relationship- 'The relationship between Baek Jin Sang and Lee Doo Ra is developed slowly, organically and actively. It's the "from hate to love" trope done right; because mistakes aren't forgotten. Instead, the relationship is built despite them, giving the characters an opportunity to make amends. And rather than have the characters jump from hate straight into love, we see them get to know one another through a paced transition. They go from hate to reluctant interest, to understanding, to appreciation and then, finally, to love.' --- Baek Jin Sang and Ruda's characters and their relationship has become one of the classic love stories to me, cause like as in my other favorite kdramas, here their equation is very normal, day-to-day, it's not overdone, or made dramatic to create impact or evoke reactions from the audience. The writer doesn't write to please the viewers here. Their relationship developed in a natural and organic way, and the main leads successfully managed to keep the story relevant till the end but their times with each other on a day to day basis and bickerings/ development, growth of their relationships, familiarity with each other made the drama charming, and very special to me. I see the strength of the bond here, in baek jin sang and ruda, so even if there was a minimal romance, and we didn't get to see ruda's take on baek jin sang, or how much she felt about him, or when exactly it started, I was still happy and satisfied, cause baek jin sang just made it work. So I was kind of sure that they're gonna end up together, cause at least Ruda unconsciously and without any second thoughts, always had eyes for baek jin sang. So even if she almost looked creeped out by baek jin sang's first hug lol, I think it just took her a long time to realize how special he was for her. And like it was meant to be. And since ruda's priority was from the first, how to get out of the time loop for both herself and baek jin sang, it seemed realistic too that her desperateness came from saving themselves physically first, but then in the process, after spending so much time with him, it became an emotional dependency. - I also like how you mention the satire of the drama, the writer never shied away from showing us the selfishness of the characters, whether baek jin sang or kang joon ho. Like BJS himself says he was a selfish person but through his own pain, like how everyone shunned him, he got to realize that caring is both way process. Also so many topics have been cleverly introduced, like the emotional abuse in the workplace, [which I especially liked], ruda standing up for her pregnant colleague. Lol and it was hilarious watching her grab his collar on an occasional basis to suit her own issues with him. And that's also part of the reason why this drama works, ruda was ruthlessly honest with baek jin sang, about how dislikeable he was and why he needs to change. This is also something so new and fresh, which is why this show is in my ultimate favorite dramas list now and something I can go back to from time to time. - I also didn't like the second lead's arc and was clueless about how and why Ruda fell for him. I almost felt like the writer had a change of heart, and suddenly decided that ruda has to be with baek jin sang at the end. I don't disagree with her, and as the drama went on, there were more and more reasons why it should be so, but I wished it was explained a bit. If it was just for the laughs at the first date of ruda and kang joon ho like a commenter here said, then I understand haha. But I do wonder if Kang has been this much pushy and petty in the webtoon too. From the beginning I understand that he had been quite a meddlesome character, he always had issues about ruda's closeness with baek jin sang. I also agree with what you said, that he put her on the spot by asking her out in front of a gathering and that kind of pressurized her. She tried to refuse him for multiple times in the time loops, so that also says something. But it ultimately worked I guess, since in the process baek jin sang became more aware of her, and tried to win her favor, but that made him a better human in the sense that he was more conscious of the importance of the people around him, the ones that he started to care about gradually. Like the junior who was in a coma, and how he brilliantly saved her and asked for her forgiveness. Or how he saved the part-timer in the restaurant from the bully, or started to appreciate the pregnant lady and the hard works she puts in the table.
-I am so sorry for the long rant lol, but thank you for the article once again! And the gifs were so appropriate too haha. I take away the line which touched me the most as the girl said, 'the physical pain would go away, but what about the ones that stay in the heart and never goes away?' Or something like that. It touches your heart and something, which is very rarely talked about anywhere. Companies don't have heart, but people do, and at the end, they're the important ones. If we only think about profits and ignore the humans, where's our humanity then? I was really glad the writer chose to touch these sensitive issues and handled this so brilliantly. And like you said, the writer gave Ruda this agency which made us listen to her so carefully. When she talks about anyone's pain and with so much emotion that, we almost instantly connect to her. Or when she says how she took today for granted maybe that's why tomorrow will never come. The sudden shift between comedy and melancholy is so subtle but so perfect that it becomes a gratifying experience as a viewer lol. I will miss her spunk. And baek jin sang's whinings and unabashedly glorifying himself lol.
There is no chance I buy the fairy (Moon Chae Won) ending up with anyone else other than Yoon Hyun Min (the other…
Have you been watching the drama? If you did, you could see that kim geum has been acting quite fatherly to jeom soon. Also nothing in their conversation indicates that they could be romantically paired together. I feel like the drama has its own charm and not in every drama the hero has to get the girl to be proven a hero.
Hi Sooyi! I was actually looking for comments to see if anyone has read the webtoon. From your post it seems like…
Thank you so much for the reply! I was wondering a bit cause so far the story seems like a typical tsundere hero-centric drama, and there are so many scenes when oknam is visualizing the professor as the husband lol. And there are not many scenes for kim geum and ok nam or even of kim geum and the professor hehe, [ I love how they tend to bicker]. Your answer is making me more hopeful now lol. I do hope I can ask you sometime later in the drama too just to know whether it derails from the plot or not. But for now, it feels great that it is following the webtoon. I am enjoying the show so far since there are so many things happening at a time. Although too bad that the drama is only 16 episodes because the webtoon has got so many chapters. But anyhoo thank you again! ^^
I am worried about the episode count because the webtoon really focuses on the past life of Professor Jung Yihyun…
Hi Sooyi! I was actually looking for comments to see if anyone has read the webtoon. From your post it seems like you have, so can you maybe share if the drama is following the webtoon so far? I am a bit worried about the focus on the professor character too, since I'm wondering if they will change the husband since yoon hyun min is a senior actor. Maybe you can see if there has been a deviation from the original plot or not? Thanks in advance. :) PS: It's a shame that the naver site has locked the rest of the webtoon now, or else I would have really finished it before the drama started airing. :(
