Title Karma
am i the only one who found Lee Kwang Soo's acting not convincing at all?
coming from a fan, his role in this managed to make me disgusted. his character is acted well and i made an effort in my brain to push aside his variety persona - it's pretty damn convincing that he's a nasty piece of human being, with the way he treated everyone and everything.

(and he won best supporting actor at the blue dragon series awards 2025 for karma!)

Title The Haunted Palace Spoiler
this show had the best portrayal of shaman practice and their tools, every episode was satisfying till the end.…
FL character is guarded and troubled, and not the typical lovable type. i love her A LOT. ML is perfect for her - the Imugi's immaturity brings out the positive and cheerful side in the FL, leading to her growth, but he is also mature and serious when he is required to be. vice versa, the FL changed the Imugi's heart and brought out his humanity (also not forgetting Yoon Gap's mom's wholesome contributions). the Imugi was truly worthy to be the King's best companion. as for the leads' chemistry, i felt it strongly and found them to be perfectly casted and acted. reminds me of the same love that i have personally experienced.

this show had the best portrayal of shaman practice and their tools, every episode was satisfying till the end. the lore was deep with an emotionally mature plot - this was horror historical romance done right. best non-evil and righteous King portrayal as well his wholesome servants, and a non-evil loving queen. the overall plot with the antagonist and all the ghosts were intriguing and thoroughly dark, the writing was 3 dimensional and well justified. overall 10/10 for the cast and character development. perfect ending.

my favourite timeline was the one where it has sol holding a yellow umbrella over sunjae in the snow instead, and they're both adults, and they end up dating in secret. watching celebrity sunjae having his own house and taesung being an online business owner was so great, but that kiss they had as two matured adults and the build up to it... perfection. everything was done in the span of one episode and it was soo much fun to watch it!

what made this romance realistic and so satisfying to watch is the fact that the story brings us through multiple lifetimes/timelines. just thought of the cdrama "Eternal love" where the main romance spans over 3 lifetimes. watching the same two people fall in love in different circumstances and situations is just so wonderful and dramatic, i think it's one of the best ways to write a romance! obviously it's not simple to execute it and it may complicate some of the plot lines, but i think lovely runner did it so well that i feel so touched :') starts out fluffy and light weight but develops into a strong and emotional journey.

cheers, discussion is always healthy! the personality of the main character is interestingly complex, and that is only my own interpretation.

actually, he has low social awareness and does not seem to be observant with humans in general. he only remembers…
no offense taken, but in my original comment, I simply said it is "kind of similar" to a seemingly normal person who has adhd and may not be the best socially as compared to being intelligent. he could be autistic, and I am not a therapist who can diagnose him. I was only raising awareness to a trait of adhd that could be similar to him. since adhd could also cause him to lose focus on human behaviour and only focus on the mechanical details.

you may think it is uncommon and only "low % of adhd", but that is because mental illness used to be a taboo topic and not many people shared their experience. personally, I have adhd and am well aware of the particular struggles of social awareness.

I agree that low social awareness is a known trait of autism, but the main character here still holds his own in being social enough to make friends and be in a relationship in a normal way. he may even have a mix of autism and adhd, which is also surprisingly not as uncommon, now that mental illness is widely shared.

back to your question - you were only asking me if I meant autism, so I am replying that I did mean adhd.

some people with adhd have a hard time picking up social cues or managing people's emotions. it does sound similar to autism, but I believe that adhd covers a wide range of neurodivergent behaviour, and they can seem like a normal person on the surface without a mental disorder.

Here comes the 'you're not mature enough to understand this show' argument. Myself and a lot of people have provided…
hello there! you may have misunderstood me when I mentioned “certain” maturity. this comes with age or experience, and sometimes dramas can be very quiet and slow burn in revealing certain development which is not visible to some audiences. high octane crime romance dramas often reveal development or plots in bigger ways, but some shows do it in a slow burn that some viewers aren’t used to.

I have specifically not mentioned anything about possessing the “intelligence” to watch this, I did not associate that with maturity. I apologise if it sounded like I was mocking people’s intelligence. my comment was referring more towards having an acquired viewing style which is suited for the writing shown here. the “pacing” and plot reveals of this drama is focussed more on immersing the viewer in the pov of every town resident more than the mystery or romance. there is a metaphor and underlying theme that “links” all these villagers together from their past and present, linking seemingly unrelated people with a tragic incident. apparently it seems like rule #1 is to connect emotionally in order to connect with the latter episodes. if not they would simply be lame plot devices and empty gaps.

so yes, I understand why you have shared your opinion, as you want to discuss how you felt about it. vice versa, my comment is made to support the fact that the drama was made for a specific kind of audience at the point of time that they watched it. having a certain maturity or viewing appetite/mood is also important to appreciate it the way that the writer expects. I know you would have rather that you did not end up disliking the drama, as everyone would expect their time spent on a drama to be worth it and wholesome. maybe you can try to watch similar slow burn crime + romance shows to develop the appetite for a genre like this?

to be specific, if you see it from our perspective, the very points which people are complaining about are the exact factors which are appealing to a group of people. isn’t that interesting? humans being so different and diverse in their response to different media. it would be a pity if people are unable to appreciate something special like LINK, but maybe years later it may be more appealing to the same person.

just wanna say that I binged this kdrama for lee kwang soo and my heart is so full, his character was made for him and seol hyun’s character is the manifestation of how I treat the people I love. this show had sooooo much HEART in all the characters, it is one of the most healing dramas out there. to find a drama with so much heart is rare and an absolute treasure! I’m going to miss daesung’s smile and all the mart employees

Dae Seong was shown to be too observant to have missed the suspicious behaviour of the culprit till 2nd last episode.…
actually, he has low social awareness and does not seem to be observant with humans in general. he only remembers people from significant details that matter to him. it’s kinda like the brain of an adhd individual who can be extremely analytical and intelligent but fail to portray the same expertise in other areas like people matters.

imagine watching this by skipping scenes or faster speed, obviously its going to be slow and boring. there is a certain maturity that watchers need to possess to digest a show like this. grow up abit more and you’ll see things differently. to those who don’t see value in the heartfelt writing and dark comedy genre of this show, the creators did not make this for you either. it will be appreciated by the right audience.

I binged it for the exact same reasons. the negative comments made me driven to write a review and I ended up coming up with the exact same thoughts as yours. it seems like the drama was catering exactly to audience like us, the realism was addictive and I could relate to and learn from every relationship portrayed here. everything was wholesome, and I love watching them navigate difficult personalities in difficult situations. the drama’s important lesson was about getting better at making mistakes and learning from it, and that every decision does not need to lead to the correct answer but it has to be a decision that you believe in. the ending couldn’t have been more enjoyable!

just finished this and as a chinese speaking viewer, I am SO PROUD of the show as it beats all mythical tomb raiding adventures I've ever seen in a western production. the director is an absolute perfectionist and insane (I watched all the behind clips and everyone respects him and his dedication) and PAN YUE MING is a star a king a phenomenal actor he killed it he is my hu ba yi <3 on the chinese ranking site Dou Ban all the c-viewers call him Teacher Pan and cannot stop praising him, they also can't help expressing their love for the show. and everyone is so excited for the next one at YUN NAM!

there are so so so so so many exciting adventures in this compared to all the other series even with just 18 eps! however I think the writing and dialogue in this is very hard to be translated into english. a lot of nuance will be lost in translation as the mandarin in this is very complex and detailed and beautifully written. especially the humour it made me laugh SO hard (Gold Tooth/金爷 is a total sweetheart and the funniest shithead ever)

also, VENGO's small segment in this series is my favourite, I was fangirl-ing so much even though he only lasted 2 eps but he owned it he is the boss tomb raider and he even had new tricks and new fighting moves in this (in addition to Wrath of Time) even tho it was short but I was still so so thankful and satisfied I almost cried?! (watch his behind clips he becomes an awkward doofus)
