i agree, the mature themes and nianced approached of the show are lost to many people here. i am happy i watched this show, it has a very special place in my heart and sometimes i rewatch episode 4 and feel warm inside

watching this shitty show was totally worth it, if only to read this review.

girl, same.

when everyone urged me to watch strong woman dbs, this is what i wanted to scream at their face. i mourn the hours i lost watching it and it tainted my love for kdramas for YEARS. it's a pleasure to read such an accurate takedown, thank you. i would write a review as well, but i'm afraid it'd be entirely made by cursewords towards the intelligence of people that made and/or enjoyed it. when i read this review of yours, i feel seen and sane

Review The Fabulous
'Everything about the character is so random and nonsensical. ' THIS.
the characters weren't written as real, or even believable people, but as empty cardboards with whichever characteristic fitted the episode plotline. i couldn't even hate the two leads cause they were so pretentious and unreal, there was no point to connect with them. except the model, she was awesome

Review Road Home
you're onto something with cdramas having to be 16 episodes for an international audience. that's my problem with most chinese productions: i like the plot but it drags through 30+ episodes leading the story to be repetitive and bland. plus they end the episodes in random moments rather than at the point it makes narrative sense. i've only watched the first two eps, do you think i can still enjoy parts of the show?

Especially cause the mom is a hard working, loving parent who's completely devoted to her. I preferred mom's love story and ended up skipping Heran's scenes

After the Fabulous, I'm not trusting netflix produced kdramas ever again. Entertaining but empty and soulless

True, she sucks. It's a mixture of her being immature due to her young age and her being inconsiderate of other people's feelings like her best guy friend, who she uses constantly. And as you said, she was callous to her mother who'd done everything for her
