okay it's been a few days since the final episode - all I can summarise it (in my own opinion) is that the writer…
For youngrye (or more like people hating on youngrye), are we not watching the same show T^T why did anyone view her actions as selfish? Youngrye was the most big hearted and supportive character. For the crucial scene where she had asked jeonghee to run after the knife attack - it seemed youngrye did so in a protective stance. She wanted to make sure the jeonghee won't be harmed by the manager and she was worried if the manager would call the cops on her so youngrye made her best move (in her own understanding) by blackmailing the manager to protect jeonghee. Which worked until the present day, he was never able to act upon jeonghee. Cut to the manager at the contest - youngrye still jumped forth to protect jeonghee. Even now, she did it for jeonghee. Why say youngrye was the bad character? Now for the namecalling of 'boyfriend stealer' - she stepped back numerous times from the past and even in the present day. She even paused when jeonghee returned instead of moving forward to confess to jaepil. Only after addressing her feelings with jeonghee then it was made clear they both want to make a move. I'd say both had a fair chance to get with jaepil - youngrye and her 7 years with jaepil AND jeonghee's winning card of being first love. If jaepil had not viewed youngrye romantically in the 7 years, jeonghee would have had a good chance at getting together with jaepil. But of course, ultimately, the writer chose the 7 year friendship route so is this really youngrye's fault :") Would you have wished that she became a doormat and continue to let her love line be stepped on? If you think this way then you're just selfish.
okay it's been a few days since the final episode - all I can summarise it (in my own opinion) is that the writer…
For jeonghee, it must've been difficult to come back into the picture when everyone has moved on. I'm sure she craved the wholeness and deeply wants to be blended in with everyone but instead she keeps being an outsider, not being able to embrace her 'once love' and his family, not being there when youngrye shares updates of her life (hearing from someone else). BUT wanting to be involved with everyone in present day means having to let everything from the past go and for the most parts of the latest episodes she had struggled with this. Only in the finale when youngrye spoke of her fondness of their past then jeonghee could pull herself back to present day than to be stuck in the past. T^T Should jeonghee have communicated with youngrye more honestly (and for youngrye to speak openly about the past), maybe she could have felt less lonely. :')
Please don't get me wrong, I don't hate jeonghee - I just wished she could wriggle out of the self pity. The jeonghee I had known was someone who wanted to go with the flow, wherever the breeze would take her and not someone who stands still when the waves of time is trying to push her forward where everyone else really is, in the present time! I understand she has been through a lot and had to suffer alone, but if she had come forth and lived in the present, I'm certain she would have been able to rekindle and be embraced, never have to be lonely again.
okay it's been a few days since the final episode - all I can summarise it (in my own opinion) is that the writer used this last episode to try and mend all that they did not manage to explain so most parts feel rushed. Trying to finish the villains of the story all in one go and even trying to give one of them a last push to 'do good' haha I'd say the official ending was what I hoped for, for the main leads to get along but regarding the completeness of the story - it just feels all over the place. We want to talk about character developments but the pacing is so strange. If the writer does an official commentary from their own perspective (as writers of the show) I hope they can clarify why the love lines came off so abrupt and messy. It seems lazy if the main motive of writing their story like this is because 'young and foolish love' :/ Friends that can't speak openly and even consider their supportive friend as 'someone who was once their happiness and eventually took away all those happiness' is plain lazy. I felt jeonghee was written and evolved into a bad character ultimately but it didn't have to be that way........
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But…
Jaepil to Yonugrye; ah YR X JP shippers, are you happy~ good for you guys but please look away now. I don't think you would want to read this.
Nope. He heard a radio story that made him recall youngrye's first 'fall in love at first sight' moment which I do infer that youngrye did submit that story to the radio. AND THEN HE KEEPS INTERRUPTING HER WHEN SHE TRIED TO TELL HER SIDE OF THE STORY. EXCUSE ME, love is a tango it takes TWO. Bro you had your chance ok, let her have hers please.
But what the heck???? You're telling me that when she was right there all along, running to you and trying to spend time with you, you didn't recognise her efforts (you couldn't even confidently say she's not just a friend but more). I'm not even talking about the missed moments that we saw, I'm talking about how after everything, everything he has been through it took him way too long to be like 'omg she's right here all along' ð brooooooooo why was it so easy for you fall in love with jeonghee but youngrye just slips right through the cracks. You really took her for granted........ Don't @ me if you want to say 'at least now he loves her' I don't want to talk about this.... Love needs a specific moment, a chemistry that pops up from the first few moments. When it reaches this time frame and stage with youngrye, it's giving 'taxi cab' theory where a guy chooses someone just because it's time to, not genuinely because of the person they are with â so whoever is available then will become 'the one'. I dislike this alot...............
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But…
Jeongbun - Sangcheol - Jeongsik Driver; this one was weird too..... I get that sangcheol grew to love sujin and he seems to play parent for her just like how everyone became the village to help raise the kid but I don't understand how a LOVE chemistry grew for jeongbun to sangcheol and vis visa. Jeongsik driver is a breath of fresh air amongst everyone, his character isn't a good or lovable person but I believe he will make his exit soon. I don't see his character change for good to play a nice extra parent for sujin but seeing how offroad the writer has taken, they could very well keep him in the picture - the more the merrier HAHAHAHAHA ok
Because of how ridiculous the plot has taken, I couldn't even enjoy the drunk trio's hangover scene. Jeonghee's outburst at her adoptive mum over the forced fire that led to yeongrye losing her job, this didn't feel meaningful to me anymore........ Jeonghyun jumping in to save youngrye AGAIN, also meaningless to me now.
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But…
Jeonghyun is such a weirdo for offering a job to youngrye then confess his love for her ð HAHAHAHA this was so poorly done............... Bro you wanted her to stay close to you but did you really think to throw 2 moves in one day would work out??? And him muttering 'i'm so sick of being daddy-long-legs' only confirms my own opinion that youngrye only saw him as a helpful person, not that she was interested in him. AND it shows, he knows that too. If you don't get this, :/ I can't help you understand it.
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But…
Jeonghee's adoptive mother; she's crazy ðĪŠ jeonghee will not want to be controlled by her anymore but I'm not entirely sure how she will break away. With jeongnam back in the storyline, he will want to cause havoc with his sister who is now rich + will definitely be on the news and tv alot for miss korea. We will get some tea and drama from this chaotic trio! Oh and the manager that jeonghee stabbed might make a comeback here too, he's definitely holding a grudge.
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But…
yeongbae & saeri; are a green-lit go â in her lowest moments, she seemed to appreciate and admire yeongbae more for being kind, gentle and warm while she cried. To have a partner like this that can embrace you as you're falling apart is essential. I hope their love line would develop nicely! They're not together yet but still seems safe to say they will!
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But…
Jeongsik & jeonghee; I cannot say this ship will sail even when he said he wants to side her if he could (but ultimately will support youngrye instead). So I don't think he will make a move at the moment? BUT with jeongnam being released - I hope he can help jeonghee once again, which he may not be able to push for his love interest during this moment but will continue to be there for her. Of course, jeonghee to jeongsik is more of a supportive aid type person and not love interest since she is currently pursuing jaepil. Although once she finds out in the next episode that jaepil chose youngrye, she won't be able to pursue jaepil anymore. Still doesn't mean she will accept jeongsik as lover ðĪ·
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But…
Sure, it was nice that a truth uncovered jaepil's father's true intentions and proved that jaepil's pov from young was unreliable, he misunderstood what his father did to his bio mum and this allowed the father and son to reconcile. ok sure, nice. but this only makes me wonder whether the earlier easter egg scenes about jaepil's kind acts are out of real love interest or just out of kindness. This matters because it would show if the entire time deep inside he had feelings for youngrye despite ultimately chasing jeonghee who piqued his interest and pulled his heartstrings.
I personally feel he did everything out of kindness for youngrye and not that he was interested in her. So i'll pull this opinion below when I talk about episode 10's ending scene.
I'll skip talking about summary of episode 9 since I had previously left a comment here about it already. But episode 10 is a train gone haywire.... what plot? what character development? HAHA I can only laugh at how ridiculous each scene unfolded.
Let's start with the jaepil's family dynamics then ultimately jaepil X youngrye [ spoiler tag below ]
I'm wondering if I missed out something important about jeonghee's personality? Why does it feel like she has an innately bad character but I don't see it in the scenes? Don't get me wrong, she did:
- miss all the cues about youngrye having a big crush on 'giant' aka jaepil (but - this one is on youngrye for not being upfront about her feelings) - jeonghee proceeds to go out with him, spend time with him & grew a love interest (still not jeonghee's fault, they're just youths trying things out for the first time) - went stabby stabby to protect youngrye because she thought she was in danger (this one is criminal but shows me she is a protective friend) - became rich overnight but doesn't seem snobbish or rude like rich people are? - comes back into everyone's lives and catches up + helped out (gives me 'she's sweet' vibes, kinda wholesome) - but from here (i'm guessing because she missed out on all those years with everyone), she seems to want to 'steal back' all the moments that were lost and to 'get back' what originally was hers (aka jaepil as her boyfriend then to undo the break up (even though her last comment was 'its more important who jaepil chooses', to have her best friend who she had fun running around with, her youthful dream of winning miss korea and be the prettiest one there)
^ this part gave me the shudders.. adding on, her conversation with jeongsik and his remark to her that things need to flow naturally..... :/
The attitude in our comment threads show how truly toxic this show really is T^T Whilst I keep writing to root for the friendships and growth of youngrye, the foundation of the drama has been broken and I can't truly expect the ending of their story to be positive â how could it really be? A lot of compromise will be necessary for everyone to take a step back in order to live in harmony. I guess tonight's episode 10 should be able to determine roughly how the finale would go. And I do have a habit of not watching the last episode of dramas if I don't like how it develops ðĪĢ oops, unfortunately with the current stage of the story â I don't have good feelings. How can it be at 85% story completion, there was so much truth being hidden despite all the 'good friendships'? It's just like sangcheol's last comment to jeonghee, 'How can you be best friends when you don't know each other?' ð They want to do good for each other but ultimately why does it seem to become potentially hurtful.........
No wonder the calm before a storm was highlighted... to finally hear and see the scene where japeil mentions to…
With the teaser, my prediction was totally thrashed with both girls saying they want to make their move for jaepil ð and jonghyun going to jaepil to say he will be making his move now, I'm not sure if it will pressure jaepil to make his own moves (if he likes youngrye) or if it will help him realise clearly that youngrye is just a good friend. Either way I totally assumed the girls would choose one another and save their friendship instead of pursuing such a turbulent love line....
No wonder the calm before a storm was highlighted... to finally hear and see the scene where japeil mentions to jeonghee about her sudden disappearance and for youngrye to admit 'yeah its so like jeonghee to disappear like that' was so wrong.
For jeonghee to do everything she has missed out on - to reconnect with everyone and catch up on what's going on, to have her best friend back, to confess once again to jaepil her honest feelings. She was brave for this even though it felt 'wrong' when she knows youngrye's feelings. When she heard 'youngrye is my friend' from jaepil, it was an immediate green light to her. ðģ With the teaser [see spoiler comment]
Ngl that YR and JP cafeteria scene of YR and JP eating food that the other doesn't like in sync gave married couple…
in english shows there's the olive theory ðĨđ where they say you find someone you're meant to be with if they fit your mismatch - eg when someone eats something you don't like but I feel this is a misdirection/mislead from the writers ðĪĢ they seem to enjoy misleading us with the teasers and trailers
