Is this a remake of the Japanese drama that came out in 2019 or a sequel? Asking because I know it isn’t uncommon…
I don't know anything about this project, but the drama version had wrapped up everything fairly well by the end. This sounds more like a remake than a sequel.

Title Ben X Jim Spoiler
I don't think Ben acts like a boy at all. This isn't a post-homophobia world. He was somewhat nervous to come out to Jim. Yet, for whatever reason, he wants everyone on social media to know that Jim knows and likes him. A guy who is afraid of the repercussions of coming out would be fearful or at least think twice about having so many people know that he's gay, unlike a girl who might feel validated for dating a popular boy. Similarly, he's supposedly childhood friends with Jim. Jim has a basketball hoop in front of his house and has played basketball before, yet somehow Ben has never played basketball before. If Jim didn't play with Ben as kids, then who did Jim play with? Why wouldn't Ben know that Jim never plays? It's almost like Ben's lack of understanding of basketball is to make him more like a girl even though it's a glaring plot hole. And of course, the whole wifey thing misgenders Ben. While some gay guys may use feminine pronouns, we haven't seen Ben ever do that. I feel like the show so far has bent over backwards to make Ben a male-bodied girl even when it doesn't make sense. On top of that, we're several episodes in and we have hardly seen any sort of reference to how they used to be friends. There's no inside jokes or traditions or stories about back in the day. This might get filled in more later, but the lack of any of those details makes it seem really fake.
