btw, I was envious with that amount of "male lead highlights" the ML have here. My fave character in TBOY XCH barely got any and if you think about it, just when it's about to get good, XCH will either faint or it will be cut short because he's near drained. It pains me to admit it myself because he is like a side character disguised as the main lead character in that S1 🤕. Hoping he gets his ML glory in S2. And since his romance with SQL is set in stone, atleast make that bearable or else that lame romance will really make it in my sleep inducing couple list together with the 2nd cp here in Dashing Youth.
The amount of emphasis to Baili Dong Jun's liquor drinking/brewing is insane as it just screams big main character energy with his Liquor Deity title and I want that for XCH too, not talking about the liquor ofc, I want that ML emphasis like Baili Dong Jun!!!!
aside from the sleep inducing 2nd couple, I was fine even if they just narrated the Tianqi Battle of Royals because let's get real here, they will prioritize the one with the male lead and since he was not involved in that as advised by Nangong Chun Shui bc his identity is special, they will skip it. This is more than good enough, cmiiw but compared to LHY's less than 600k fans gained for the whole duration of TBOY, they dropped express and all and the show ended with him getting that amount of fans. I know this because I kept track of his fans number when it aired and till the end of the broadcasting period because I liked him very much as XCH. And he was the one who gained the most fans from that drama. Considering the fuss made that it was good, I thought he will gain a million but he didn't so it frustrated me that's why I can remember.
This YWJ x YDZ love story is one of the most unconvincing love story I've ever watch as the other one is XCH x SQL. Last met when they are young, the sfl looks like barely 10 or it can be below. Then reconnected for a short time when they matured and the meeting looks only days to me not weeks then separated again after sfl married another then now the latest update with lovey dovey again after half a year or 1 year (?) idk. This is way more worse than the love at first sight of ml and fl. It just pisses me off everytime how bland is this childhood sweetheart trope. I'm surprised I can endure the ml and fl lovestory even though I hate love at first sights cliche, but the script did something good for that so it is not that typical love at first sight for me.
The actor carrying the drama (first billing) is bound to get criticisms from left and right. I remember how Li Hong Yi got shredded to pieces in the broadcasting period of TBOY. He catched all those smoke from left and right when he's not the only one, but since he is the first billing, he is the most seen one. Even the recently aired one, Yang Zi from LYF was criticized saying her acting especially the crying scenes is not giving anything at all and looks forced to cry. My point is that I believe that we have our own judgements. Just because they said it is, it will be really is the fact. People are diverse and judge their own based in their own perspective. It's all SUBJECTIVE.
The ML obviously has flaws but I like how he is portrayed because he feels "human". This is not the type of that kind of idol romance drama where the ML is perfect and can solve any kinds of his problems with a flick of his finger. This drama is suitable for audiences who like or is open to watching a person full of flaws with reckless decisions.

1. the jade wine spring in between ML and FL 2. when you rotate the poster to the right, you can visualize a bird and whale image starting at the tip of that jade wine spring then extends all the way. 3. the reflection at the bottom, if you zoom in you can see the whales, they are in color white.
One important point is that Hong Ye's demon form is a "KunPeng". The fish is the Kun, the bird is the Peng. Peng birds are enormous and I can see in the poster that it mostly occupied the top poster with blue colors and some hints of a whale with an eye too. You can think of it as a hybrid.
Aside from the capable team behind this drama, I can definitely see why Minghao accepted this role.
