lol i wasn't expecting player 333 to make it that far. overall, i'm just mostly surprised so many characters died. gihun's ending speech on humanity was really touching and powerful, and all the shots of the old sets from s1 and s2 right before the venue was destroyed was very cinematic and nostalgic. kudos to park gyuyoung for her spectacular performance, with honourable mentions to jo yuri and yim siwan too. time to say goodbye to squid game :,) altho hollywood squid game might be coming soon lolol, dunno how that's gonna go
damn. just finished and got a bit emotional by the ending. very impressed yet stunned by how they managed to condense over 200+ webtoon chapters into 8 kdrama episodes, and whilst i still think s2 doesn't quite touch the bar that s1 set, it's still amazing. the acting was the most phenomenal aspect, with emphasis on ryeoun, bae nara, and ofc park jihoon. anyways, call me biased but this is a 10/10. i'm not sure if s3 is in the talks right now (though i wouldn't say i strongly feel the need for another season), but i'm gonna miss this real bad lol weak hero my forever favourite show <3
so far in, i notice they toned down donald/baekjin's character a lot, both appearance and personality-wise. the way i see it, i believe it might've been to make it more realistic. after all, he's still just a 17 year old high schooler. i can also notice a shift in scene direction compared to whc1 thanks to the netflix effect. they tried to preserve most of the aesthetics and overall mood from season 1, but ofc this new season is telling a brand new story, and it's a lot more dramatic. i prefer how season 1 was shot with its aesthetics and more natural directing, but this season is still just as good in quality. fight scenes are still crazy good too. i also feel like i heavily overlooked the casting choice for lee junyoung as seongje lol- he's literally embodying the role like it was made just for him
i'm so excited!! been waiting on this for ages and hope that this retains the same quality as the prequel. as a webtoon reader too i'm looking forward the most to ljy's performance as wolf ^^ and ofc park jihoon also <3 was hoping for a gerard and jake inclusion in the cast, but given how much of the story still needs to be covered, i understand the cut lol
the absolute heart attack i got when gochujang was stabbed omg just for him to show up at school the next day all fine HOW DID BRO SURVIVE😭 anyways i'll be looking forward to s2 !!! if there is one
the japanese adaption felt a lot more ml-centric than the korean one, which is interesting considering how many praised the latter for its intricate female perspective. i think the beginning started off very similar to the kdrama but gradually transitioned into a deeper character reflection of the ml, and somewhere around that point it felt like the fl had a smaller role to play when taking into consideration all the factors in the ml's life that shaped him to who he was in the present day. the dialogue between the characters was very poetic, perhaps to a point where i don't think such interactions are that common realistically, but it sets the mood very well for each scene. the scriptwriters put a lot of thought into the pacing of the story. i think this story also had a lot of potential to be extended so that we could see more bits of the side characters / couples, but ik jdramas have a thing for half-hour-long eps lol. imo, i guess i still prefer the korean adaption better, but i think the jdrama definitely wins in terms of its beautiful cinematography and storytelling.
guys idc i loved that confession scene like there was no beating around the bush they just both straight up went ily and had a cute kiss like ‼️‼️
whoever the actress is for yechan's mum is outstanding cuz her reaction to her son's gift was so visceral.. arguably one of the most emotional scenes fr
also bitna in court jdjekjdjs the part where she turned to look at herself in the mirror before commencing the trial- the expression she bore really reminded me of the original bitna and the contrast to how we saw her (justitia version) in the first ep is so stark.
+ turns out my favourite quote from this show isn't even a part of dialogue, it's the one on the statue of justitia ("the heavens may fall but there will be justice on earth" so beautiful🥲)
all these "wander in your nightmares" theories are rewiring my brain chemistry 😭 bael is so silly he just has to pop up at the time we need him the least
