When I read some negative comments, before I started watching the drama, I imagined it to be much worse than it is.
The script has many flaws in the coherence of the narrative. The characters are not well built and, in many moments, the story is tiring. The first female protagonist alternates between annoying, stubborn, naive and of dubious intelligence. The second female lead is smarter and more interesting. The first and second male protagonists are cute, however, for the first protagonist, the character is weak, as he is easily deceived and does not suspect the traps set by people close to him. The emperor's character is manipulated all the time, lacking intelligence but much authoritary. The villains are unbearable, everyone wants to kill the protagonist, but the foundations are shallow and, when defeated, they take action to redeem themselves and accept their fate with resignation because they know they made a mistake.
The manipulative uncle who had so much information, never sought the truth about the mother? How does a writer, and also a director, make a scene as nonsensical as the lightning bolt? What is the logic of a poison, which has no antidote, not causing harm? If the protective mesh was the protection, why the blood from the wound?
The cast performed satisfactorily within what the characters required, as composing such poorly written characters is heroic work.
The steering slipped at the start and went downhill towards the end. The mistakes are countless, both in editing and in the creation of scenes. The notion of time is quite impaired. The ending isn't even bad, but it focused only on the protagonist couple. Art allows writers and directors to create the impossible, but when the characters do not belong to the fantastic world (gods, demons or immortals), it is necessary to have logic and respect the limits of physics and biology.
The costume is appropriate and beautiful.
The soundtrack is pleasant.

Getting to the end of this show wasn't easy. The script is very uninteresting, the drama's characters are irritating and difficult to captivate, the plot is a sequence of possibilities for mistakes by young people and the perpetuation of mistakes in older ones. When a character starts to captivate, he soon does something that doesn't match his previous attitudes. The female lead is a nasty, spoiled girl with very annoying attitudes. The male protagonist has skills in the business world, but as a person he is stuck, distracted and slow in taking actions, which takes away all the charm of the character. The romance are miserable and the business part is superficial.
The acting isn't bad, but it leaves a lot to be desired.
The direction was not zealous in editing the drama and, therefore, the number of errors is quite expressive. Emotional scenes are two or three, the scenes comics are so forced that it is impossible to laugh. Some characters, like Kong Hao's parents, disappear throughout the drama. The ending isn't even the worst.
The soundtrack isn't bad.

The script is focused only on the peculiarities faced by professionals who work in hospital emergencies. The stories of the characters are poorly developed, not even the protagonists had their stories told satisfactorily. There are no novels, the characters are just doctors discovering a multitude of diseases (mostly rare), their personal stories were lost between an uninteresting script and unberable direction.
The actors' work was decent, but there was no script and the direction was lost from start to finish. After a slow and tiring development, the finalization was rushed and without closing the poorly told story of the characters. I didn't abandon the drama solely for the performances of Yang Mi, Bai Yu and Fu Bo Han (Fu Bo Han's character was the only glimmer of hope in the drama, but he had few scenes).
It's the first time I've watched a drama by this writer, as well as this director, by the way, both have entered my list of names to reject watching a drama in which they are a part.
The soundtrack isn't bad.

Despite the script having some flaws, the dynamics in which it was conducted made it interesting. The characters in the plot are not the most likeable, but the actors who played them brought each of them to life magnificently. The writers spared no trouble for their good characters and no punishment for the bad ones. The finale matches the small moments of happiness wrapped in a sea of sadness and uncertainty of a long life.
In terms of romance, it's not the best drama I've watched, but perhaps it's one of the best dramas in terms of 'intrigues'. Rarely in a drama is it possible to find so many hateful characters as in this one.
I chose to watch this drama, which is already quite old, exclusively because of the presence of Zhao Li Ying, and she did not disappoint. The actors' performances were spectacular, all the actors involved did a very, very good job.
The costumes were very well designed, at each stage of the protagonist's life the clothes were changed.
The soundtrack was underwhelming, because in this type of drama the soundtrack is usually an unforgettable complement, but in this drama, nothing very special.
The direction produced good scenes, the cinematography was good, it carried the drama without missing a beat, but the editing had many flaws. In the final scene, post-production made the scene not very visually pleasing.

The theme of the script is not innovative, but it was developed in a pleasant way, with captivating characters, without the presence of 'villains' who set up all the time. It managed to show the family dramas, the difficulties encountered in some professions and a light and contagious romance.
The cast embodied their characters very well. Liang Jie and Zhang Xin Cheng interacted gracefully, providing an entertaining show with hints of pure emotion.
The direction led the drama with a satisfactory rhythm, the errors in the editing are few and it finished in a pleasant way, despite being perceptible a certain haste in the end.
The soundtrack is not bad, but the sound team was not very attentive, as there is a significant gap between the dialogue and the presence of the songs.

The script had an interesting element or another, but the writer created characters that weren't captivating. At first the female protagonist is irritating and the male protagonist does not arouse any empathy. The 'villains' are characters without a defined history, little is said about them. The supporting characters, for the most part, do not captivate, as they are irritating or bordering on idiocy. The open ending wouldn't even be the worst thing if it was well-crafted.
The cast is made up of good actors, but the performances in this drama are far below what they usually present. The only really convincing performance is by guest star Leon Lai, by the way, it's not the first time that his work has caught my attention, even though he's a supporting actor like in Ancienty love poetry, Legend of Fu Yao, The flame's daughter or Love in flames of war your work is exceptional.
Regarding the protagonist couple, I have doubts if there was a lack of 'chemistry' between the actors or if they just did their best to compose such insipid characters.
Voice capture is a separate issue, as the voice was not always consistent with the actors' expressions. Some felt like they were just reading the text without any emotion. The Santa Negra character's laugh was ridiculous, as it didn't fit at all with the actress's expression.
The soundtrack is very harmonious, the costumes are well designed and the effects used are pleasant to look at.
Regarding the direction, I think the director missed the chance to take advantage of excellent actors, even though the script is not spectacular, a good direction can correct some deficiencies in the text and create a memorable work. The direction took the drama very slowly, took care of the visual editing and got distracted in the gaps left by the plot, as well as in the care of the editing with the voices.
This is a drama I watched and I couldn't either laugh or cry from start to finish.

The script initially felt more of the same, but over the course of the drama it proved clever. It is difficult to define who is who at the beginning, there are many who appear to be the 'villain', but he has remained well hidden during many chapters. In terms of ending, it may not be what you want, but it's adequate within the plot. There is no romance and, the only couple in the drama, they fail to show any feelings in their scenes. There are more feelings involved in the relationship between the characters Wu Zhen Feng and Chen Yu than between Chen Yu and Yang Ling.
The cast delivered superb performances. Wang Yi Bo and Chen Xiao dressed the character spectacularly, making their characters captivating. In the final scene, actor Wang Yi Bo managed to convey all the feeling in his eyes, although the scene was speechless, his face said it all.
The direction produced good scenes, good photography, knew how to take advantage of the scenery and the cast's ability to act, but makes a somewhat confusing editing.
Costume fits the theme and the soundtrack is pleasant.

It's not a great drama, but it has excellent performances.

After reading a lot of negative reviews about this drama, I decided to give it a go and create my own opinion.
The scripts about this sad period in China are always filled with pain, disagreements and struggles (which are usually not victorious). Although the director emphasizes the protagonist's romance, the basis of the drama was not romance, but a man's responsibility to defend his people and his country against a heinous aggressor. Dramas about the republic period, when at least one of the likeable characters survives, is already a big victory.
The script could be more of the same for those who are used to this segment of drama, but the screenwriter decided to innovate by creating an absolutely idiotic female protagonist (if it weren't for the character of Xiao Bei Chen, who was truly in love with her, I would have rooted for her if go wrong, because the level of stupidity of this character is odd). After more than thirthy chapters, the stupid character becomes someone super smart. Pff! this change made the female protagonist even less likable, but actress Chen Du Ling composed this difficult character, in all its phases, in a satisfactory way.
The screenwriter created several detestable characters and with varying levels of cruelty, but the real villain is not any character on the scene, but the greedy imperialism that wanted to dominate a Nation. The script also features many lovable characters and a lot of emotion in the farewell to each of them.
The cast performed extremely well. The protagonist Shawn Dou, as in all his works, had a consistent performance. Leon Lai is that supporting character (with enough charisma to be a protagonist), who always draws attention with the naturalness of his interpretation.
It's not the best story and it's far from an excellent drama, but within the context of the writer's chosen era, it's quite acceptable. The direction made mistakes in the editing, forgot to age the actors (the takes place over several years, but most of the actors have not visual modification), but managed to produce good scenes, thanks to the acting ability of the cast . In my opinion, one of the best scenes is the goodbye to that chaotic world of the master character Zhao, lived by the actor Yao An Lian. He was a minor supporting actor throughout the drama, but at the critical moment, he led the opera's actors and ended his participation in with a beautiful message of friendship and devotion to Bei Chen.
The open ending as the directors' choice is really not the most pleasant, but each one can let their imagination travel towards the outcome that suits them best.
The costumes are adequate and the is good soundtrack.

Despite being an adaptation that has already been produced by China, the screenwriter has inserted several changes in the script, therefore, the Thai script differs greatly from the Chinese script. The comic tone (although some scenes are a little exaggerated), makes the drama quite funny, the exciting situations are few and, with mastery, it created a despicable antagonist. The only thing I don't really like is the writers' mania for making their villains good at the snap of a finger.
The main couple's romance is cute, showing a relationship that develops with coexistence, so there is no overwhelming romance. In the case of the second couple, the development of the romance was not very well worked out, but it is possible to deduce that their closeness progressed to a greater feeling.
The performances are very good, the actor Push dressed the character in a charming way. The chemistry between the main couple is good, but the kissing scenes leave a lot to be desired.
The direction is good and the editing without major errors.

A trilha sonora é agradabilíssima.
