I think Luhan looks too much of an idol singer and doesn't suit ancient dramas. The characters nor the plot are engaging enough to be invested in it and it definitely feels like a teen drama which is probably why TV ratings are currently stuck at 1% and we all know how popular Luhan is in China. This drama is basically surviving on Luhan fans support.
The pretty 3D model of the Ice Castle and beautiful sceneries is often ruined by the cheap interior sets, tacky costumes and white wigs. The Fire King is also fugly and extra af. From episode 1 to 3 was a complete mess tbh. It's kinda ironic the weakest points of this show is actually the Fire vs Ice storyline and the fake explosion effects everywhere.
The change in story with Episode 8 was good and what got me hooked. The acting isn't that bad imo. In fact the characters are definitely what keeps me watching the show not the actual story. However the action sequences are disappointing. Whoever choreographed/shot the fight scenes should be fired.
With these flaws, I'm still very curious to how these characters develop and like someone said here, it's a guilty pleasure to watch the show.
