I think the "class president" who influenced the psychiatrist to have murderous tendencies as a child was in fact the psychiatrist from 2019 for the latter did the deed in the future (when Huang Yuxuan fell unconscious to his shot, he was listening to the walkman, and I interpreted the scene as him successfully going to 1998 again). I do believe that the original class president did have a crush on Cheng Yunru, but it may not have been that harmful because in the scene when he was jerking off to photos of her undressed, it was Huang Yuxuan in her body, so it may have been the psychiatrist was possessing him at the time (or maybe a plot hole). This thus led to my theory that the psychiatrist created his own mad persona through time travelling. There was something similar in this movie named "Predestination" in which it's revealed that the protagonist actually conceived himself by time travelling: he was born intersexual, and his young female self was impregnated by his older self who had to undergo sex change after damaging his female sexual organs when he gave birth to himself (are you following me lol).
Episode 9 got me baffled: I assumed Mo Junjie was wrongly accused of Chen Yunru's murder in 1999, but apparently she asked him to kill her?? In the beginning, I thought Huang Yuxuan/Chen Yunru's body probably did the request in order to continue the loop for an important reason, supported by Mo Junjie in 2008 revealing that he killed Chen Yunru and "the girl" Li Ziwei loved. However, I later realized that HYX/CYR is not wearing her hair in her style (bangs tied into a small ponytail), so it led to my crazy theory that it was actually Chen Yunru. This subsequently made me think about the request of her uncle in 1998 to HYX/CYR - who at the time didn't believe Huang Yuxuan's explanation that she had timetravelled into Chen Yunru's body - to be convincing as CYR, explaining that the real Chen Yunru will be devastated if she found out that somebody meddled with her life in her absence, and that she didn't get into a university. I really want the best explanation for Chen Yunru's death.
As is usual in cdramas, strong female leads stop being strong female leads midway through the drama, or when they…
Or in some Chinese dramas which are adapted from novels, they tend to soften the female lead which wasn't the case in the source novel. For example, in the novel of Princess Weiyoung, the female lead was much more ruthless and calculative, and let nobody belittle her. Yes circumstances could lead to a different personality (in the novel, she lost her place as empress, her son and her legs), but I felt like drama Weiyoung was too mellow and too forgiving for somebody who lost her family and country.
Unpopular opinion but I don't really find Fuyao as a strong character. She certainly has martial prowess but I got annoyed throughout the whole drama with her jumping into action without thinking first, and then she gets saved by one of the male characters. To me, a strong female character to me is someone who: -has resilience and patience -thinks carefully before doing something -knows her strengths and limits, contributes to the group with her own talents that don't necessarily translate to physical ability -undergoes a mental growth.
The last two episodes had so many moments I laughed and swooned: -Chansung singing the Baby Shark song. Chansung is Love (UwU) -That trope when one of the protagonists is missing her/his love interest and is imagining their time together, and BOOM he/she appears! -Chansung showing more and more of his crafty side lol -I’m sorry but everytime I saw Nam Dareum in the episode, he reminded me of Seo Yeji with his long straight hair, coupled with his deep voice. By the way, he was excellent as the deity! -Haha the snapshots of Chansung laughing during his lunch with Jieun, Chairman Wang's granddaughter -Youngsoo (Yeonwoo) and Manwol's emotional stare (IU and Lee Taesun have really good chemistry, in spite of their limited screentime together)...
An interesting fact I found out about Chungmyung during my research of the show is that he seems to be inspired by a real historical figure (or maybe it's him) named Gao Xianzhi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gao_Xianzhi Like Chungmyung, he was a Korean general who fought for the Tang Dynasty after his father was defeated and taken by the Shilla-Tang forces when Goguryeo fell down. Moreover, the timeline fits as Songhwa is a princess of the Wu Zhou Dynasty which was founded by the Tang Dyansty Empress Wu Zetian, as I have mentioned before.
I don't know if it was a deliberate choice of the Hong Sisters but I think some of the characters' names hint on their relationships with each other, and personality. As we know Chansung and Manwol's names respectively mean "radiant star" and "full moon" respectively in Chinese characters, so these two are compatible because the star and the moon both appear at the same time of the day, the night. Chungmyung's name could "blue sky" if written as 靑冥, and this refers to the daytime. Interestingly, the meanings of the other forms of his name compliment his personality, such as 聽命 which means "to listen to orders with attention" and 淸名, "to have an upright reputation". About Chungmyung's betrayal, I think he had to betray Manwol and her people because from what I learned about him, he is also from Goguryeo like Manwol and her people but his father surrendered to the Wu Zhou Dynasty (probably the dynasty set up by the former Tang Dynasty Empress Wu Zetian) when their nation fell down. So I guess the survival of his family was at risk if he didn't catch Manwol's people. From what I read, being a refugee at that time meant being a slave to the new regime, so being a general was a way to escape their status, and failing your family and its continuation was a great social taboo. Last but not least, I think the show is getting more and more interesting as we progress into it. At first, I found the "ghost of the day" premise similar to its predecessor, "The Master's Sun", but the ghosts actually show us the façades of the personality and inner turmoil of our main pair, with episodes 9 and 10 focusing on Chansung's fear and past.
it's obvious CM did what he did to spare MW'life but that's a big case of twisted noble idiocy: he not only sacrified…
I think in one of the last episodes, when the Eldest Goddess Mago was standing in front of the tree at the hotel, she was saying something along the lines of "your fate together lasted several lifetimes. You were so close to her [Manwol] (or was it “you cared about her a lot”?) but you hurt her badly.” So I’m guessing that Chansung is the reincarnation of Chungmyung after watching the 8th episode. But I really wanted this story to be about Manwol getting forgiveness from the reincarnation of Yeonwoo...
I really liked episode 8 because it shows how Manwol is the "female villain" in an old-fashioned romance story, shown when she was called a love rival by the old lady's imagination. Princess Songhwa and Chungmyung's story is like the usual traditional Korean fairy tale where a valiant man from humble origins rises to become a national hero and marries his country's princess for his deeds, but Manwol, the thief, is the interloper to their "love" and the person who "corrupts" the hero. Furthermore, she is the "witch" who causes the ill-will of her rival shown by the scene she attempted to make Mira harassed by her imagination forever. And she looked so evil yet regal and powerful in that scene when she was preparing to curse Mira!
The ending felt so weird.. where did she even go for 1 year and what was she doing? why did she assume she was…
I was actually shocked that she went incognito for 1 year??? Yeah, yeah, she wanted to come to Yido when she's ready, but girl, couldn't you call him as soon as you returned, and work in developing your self-confidence with him by your side?? And I was also disappointed that he didn't start a line for women of all shapes and that there was no mention of the daughter.
I find it weird that Cha Eunwoo's character, Prince Yi Rim, was confined to the palace since young because prince have to leave the palace when they reach adulthood. They say he's a "walking bomb" but I interpret he wasn't like this from the start, but rather became a troublemaker due to boredom from his continuous confinement. And according to the drama site, Kim Yeo-jin is not his mother but his grandmother, the Dowager Queen, and his father became King by a coup. So I'm theorizing Prince Yi Rim is the son of the previous Crown Prince but they could'nt kill him for some reason.
I wonder if IU's character is immortal because it's said she's not a ghost in her individual poster and in the long preview, an old lady (one of the 12 sisters who form God Mago, according to the site) said to her that "her time will flow once again when the flowers bloom and wither". I'm thinking that she is punished immortality and is forced to host wandering ghosts for her betrayal of someone close to her in her past life, like Sharon and Baek-hee from the drama "Black Knight", and only by getting forgiveness from that person will she be mortal once more.
Lol the husband is an absolute scum and delusional. He claims he knows Jae-hee but he doesn't know that she was sticking to him for 17 years because she feels dejected to chase after her dreams again after gaining weight due to hormonal imbalance, so she devoted herself to him. She has nothing so he is more like a place of stability, a refuge for her. Also pre-transformation, she knew that he was a negative influence to her as she tried to become independent by getting employment. So nope she wouldn't use her perfume to look beautiful for him and improve their relationship. And the mistress (or EX-mistress, if I am happily to correct myself) has the gall to slap Jae-hee for "seducing" the husband when she is in an ambiguous relationship with him.
Ahhh the latest episodes are so good, I'm beyond thrilled that Yi Do told Ye Rin that he was going to pursue Jae…
I mean I don't think Jae-hee will stay in her youthful self because I reckon she cannot abandon her identity as a mother, and the more we see her in her original form, she looks prettier, more alive and more confident in her original form. After thinking carefully, I think the point of the perfume is not just for Jae-hee to chase after her long-lost dreams, but also for her to reconnect with Yi-do because the delivery man said in the 1st episode that "one is fated to meet his/her soulmate" after delivering the perfume to her.
Any more shows with Ha Jae Sook playing this role, and the producers should be held liable for not starting each…
Actually in this drama, the original Jae-hee (Ha Jaesook) becomes more beautiful and more confident when she's not using the perfume or when the perfume's effect has timed out, which is refreshing. So the point of the perfume is not just for her to realize her dreams and reconnect with her fated person, but also for her to feel self-respect and self-empowerment.
Somehow now I'm wildly convinced they've been both dead all along and it's some kind of a purgatory. Please don't…
I get your musing because the delivery man works for "Heaven Delivery", and he said that "one is destined to meet their soulmate" after delivering the perfume to Jae-hee. But maybe the old man is some kind of god that is playing cupid for Yi-do and Jae-hee.
