no wonder Choyeon turned out the way she is with a bitchy selfish mother like that that woman is for sure gonna…
What is Lady Jin's point?? She has sufficient power, but she doesn't seem satisfied with it. She scoffs at the royal family, and while she is supposedly on the lookout for her missing daughter, she doesn't seem to delve into the fact that Mudeok/Naksu's was able to enter and exit Jinyowon. Anyway, she's too arrogant and biased, which makes her an easy target to her brother's manipulations.
Ah so the Queen is Jin Mu's contact at the Palace who's helping his people infiltrate the royal staff! Did he coerce her to do his bidding so she could protect her place and her son's? He really is a puppetmaster controlling everyone in his midst. I thought the worst that could happen to Daeho is political turmoil, but there is a threat of an apocalypse eek!
To CP and Seo Yul, Jang Wook is like "You are lusting after my wife?? You got her drunk??" ππCoupled with him throwing eye daggers at them, the scene was everything.
The most funny part was Cho yeon thinking everything was her mistake even though she was not fully at fault. π
I think Lady Jin is strict with Choyeon, which perhaps led her to lie that Mudeokyi broke the yin and yang jade, and she mentioned that she finally got the stone after begging her mother for it, so her mother doesn't relent to her whim as much.
This is a detailed guide for viewers who need to have track of the characters and the concepts of "Alchemy of Souls", or might feel intimidated to try watching it due to the premise. I didn't know that new sets were built for the drama and their insinuation, so it was a pleasant surprise to know that they might lead to the production of more fantasy K-dramas π
I laughed out loud when Do-joo said that she is going to make Wook's mystery lover leave him in the typical K-drama rich mom fashion, i.e. giving her the $$$. Well, Naksu has to butter up to Do-joo when she needs her approval as her daughter-in-law because she has lost some points by exposing Wook to danger a couple of times. And it was such a treat to see Yul and Go Won getting miffed that they're regarded as "anyone" by Naksu. I really thought the Crown Prince kidnapped Naksu and gave her a make-over like in "Boys over Flowers", but the true purpose of the meeting wasn't anything like that, still the subordinates have to make it into a drama lol
I don't think Mu Deok was blind. She might have chosen to appear blind because of the things she could see. She…
I'm also surmising that the real Mudeok is neither a mage nor an average human. It's because even commoners (people with no spiritual energy) should have a mark on their left chest due to the alchemy of souls, but Mudeok doesn't. Maybe it's due to her ability, like you pointed out.
Aside from the spirit users, it looks like a political storm is brewing. So the true power is within the 10(was it?) mage clans who pass major decisions through voting, like a constitutional monarchy. This seems to explain why the King really wanted to name Jin Mu as the head of Cheonbugwan because he wanted to demonstrate his authority in front of the most powerful clans. Jin Mu is taking advantage of the royal family's weakness by inserting himself in the life of each member to solidify his own power.
How old is Lee Cheol?? So does remaining chaste have anti-aging properties? lol In ancient Chinese dramas, giving a fragrant sachet to a person is a love gesture, so does it mean that the Crown Prince already likes Naksu?? I mean he could have given her something else! can't imagine Wook's reaction when he finds about it ππ It feels like Jang Wook is mentioning marriage in almost every episode. Boy really wants to start a family soon, no wonder he was panicking when he found out about the property of the tea.
The first episode was a good opener but the second was outstanding! I expected some sort of twist, but holy cow I didn't see that coming *squeals of joy regardless*. Yes, I get that families get outraged when such grievance happen to their loved one, and want proper justice (yet in the bride's case, her father cared more about the family image and his money that was spent), but it's the victim who suffered, so we should prioritize their feelings and how they would like to be compensated.
I liked how the bride's psychiatrist knew the truth, and he kept silent not just because of the patient's right to privacy, but he didn't want to force her out of the closet. Plus, he knew that the lawsuit was not what she wanted. Overall, I appreciated that the episode's message is that not being self-reliant is not something that is exclusive to a certain profile--it affects anyone. And the inability of having mental independence also stems from not wanting to disappoint your parents with the real you. Finally, some feats are not as far-reaching as you think they are if you let down your fears and worries, and harden your resolve :)
Oh and what a great episode to conclude Pride Month! π
I think only 2: the founder of Songrim and Jang Gang. Alchemy of souls is a demonic offshoot of hwansu. And Jin…
Mages don't have to necessarily master hwansul to do alchemy of souls, I believe. I faintly remember Heo Yeom said alchemy of souls came from hwansul, but it's a malevolent branch of it, correct me if I'm wrong. Jin Mu learned it when Jang Gang needed to go back to his body, and he preferably taught it to his disciples, including Naksu, as Muskan Gupta pointed it out as well.
Park Jin Do Joo changes mood very quickly. Helphahahlwkmd
That man is seriously unhinged! loool He's dramatic compared to the resident villain. Nah but the way he's acting toward Wook, he's pretty much an antagonist :P
Question - How many people have mastered Jipsu, Ryusu, Chisu and Hwansu? I thought in episode 4 I heard Heo Yeom…
I think only 2: the founder of Songrim and Jang Gang. Alchemy of souls is a demonic offshoot of hwansu. And Jin Mu only knows like a "shortcut version" of it using some artifact, as taught by Jang Gang when he needed help to return to his body.
