Sophilicity

I'm Sophia, and I've been watching Asian dramas since I was a teen.

My first-ever TV drama was actually introduced to me by my mother, who I didn't realise was watching a Korean drama in Vietnamese dub. It's called You're Beautiful, which led to my love of Park Shin Hye dramas as I delved into the world of Korean shows.

Over the years, I've gone through Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese dramas. However, in recent years, I've been trying to practice my Mandarin Chinese by watching more Chinese dramas. It may also be because many Korean dramas have become more predictable in their tropes, and as a long-term watcher, it becomes quite repetitive - though I've been fortunate to see a few interesting shows this year around societal issues from a different light.

My favourite dramas in 2026 include:

• Teach You a Lesson

• Pursuit of Jade

• Love between Lines

However, I'll give an honorary mention to Never-Ending Summer because I became obsessed with the cast, which led me to rate their variety show, Blazing Summer, highly. This has also led to my new favourite actor, Daniel Zhou/Zhou Keyu (who I am now watching Produce Camp 2021 for as well).
