A Cautionary Tale on Paternalism

The theme of paternalism on steroids is the underlying problem in this series.
Twisted parents exercising total control over children under the guise of wisdom. Personal autonomy for children is completely stripped away as patriarchal figures enforce rigid boundaries - overriding self-determination.

Except for the FL and her companions, the Queen’s sister and the Prince's wife women are portrayed as lacking agency. Their personal decisions, and voices are ignored, by others reducing them to passive participants in their own lives. Paternalism is the root of the “Eve" trope where female characters are depicted as the source of ruin, intrigue, or downfall.

Portrayed also is the totally twisted psychotic fathers: one finally realizes his flaw the other does not.

The FL reprised this character in her recent role in Blossoms’ of Power.
