Can you explain about the cut scenes: what was cut and what was left and did you give a lower rating bc of what…
well all the kiss scenes were cut which gave the viewer a feeling of unsatisfied build up . And they were cut badly which affected the quality of the episodes so I deduced one point but a 9 is still a pretty good score
I hope they are waiting for the end of the Olympics as I am getting impatient, seeing all these projects acheduled…
I'd love seeing him as the antagonist even if he has a sad ending his fierce expression is verrrry convincing, I think he could pull a crazy or creepy caracter as well but usually they aren't main characters and he's too good to be on the side lines... as to the veteran I know what you mean but can a veteran only be an old guy? oh he could pull an army officer maybe ?
I hope they are waiting for the end of the Olympics as I am getting impatient, seeing all these projects acheduled…
I know I felt the same although i didn't drop the show because I found the reactions interesting I thought it was handled well, it felt cute and sincere. he was doing an amazing job but it made sens for the story to go that way...
I hope they are waiting for the end of the Olympics as I am getting impatient, seeing all these projects acheduled…
oh then , a sarcastic CEO would do, I think he'll do amazing as a character with a quirky personality I'm sure I'll love it. I'll welcome any and all, I just wish he doesn't fall in the pit where all the roles will look the same you know..
I hope they are waiting for the end of the Olympics as I am getting impatient, seeing all these projects acheduled…
Yes I have high hopes for Go East too, and I agree he does amazing in romance, I also loved LMLMV which put his singing skills to good use. I guess his character and the female lead were a little too perfect and too happy which gave me a sugar rush and I think he could do even more. So it's not that I don't like romance just that I hope his character has more contrast. Character development woul'd be great, I can imagine him as a doctor, a teacher, a secret agent or even a serial killer, I know he did act as a hacker too which is great and he could have all the romance too. I guess I just hope he gets to star to many dramas in the coming years
Is his agency bad? Why aren't any of his dramas getting released soon whereas I see some actors dramas releases…
I hope they are waiting for the end of the Olympics as I am getting impatient, seeing all these projects acheduled for this year but not getting any. Although he said he likes comedy and he does it well, but I hope he stars again as a dubious or complicated character with some kind of dark side to make his acting shine brighter. His talents are more versatile than only comedy and romance, he brings his characters to life and I believe, that's the making of a great actor.
Have you watched Under the Skin? He is fantastic in that one.
Absolutely loved it, he had so much character and presence. I look forward to the 2nd season of under the skin and hope he doesn't loose his originality in his future roles.
I just discovered Tan Jianci and I must say I am hooked. After his outstanding performance in lmlmv and Lyf. I need a new dose to get back my broken heart from Xiang Liu.
I just binge watched till episode 49 in 2 days and I don't know the novel, but I hate the relationship with Jing, he seems so passive and uninteresting and I don't feel any connection like with XL his character is haunting me. I hoped from the title that no male lead would end up with XY as I felt it should be tragic all the way or be with XL who's a complete outsider but after watching till now i guess the key moment for XL and XY has passed in episode 45. When she wouldn't answer his last question seems like she just lost her last chance to be with him. That's the moment he must have decided she's lost to him and he gave up hope.
ikr? The story and characters are fascinating, unique and three-dimensional. Unfortunately, it seems cdrama fans…
I agree undortunately, no matter what method we use to rate something, the rating is biased as it's about quality and drama watchers tend to rate drama quality with their feelings and/or for strategy. I know it, so usually I go to the comments section to get a broader picture. it is usually harder to hide one's bias when they write. Sadly, I am sure I 've renounced a good drama or two because of a bad rating or bad comments.
I am sure I have the same bias too, but I am aware of it. When I like the drama I tend to give a very good note but that is earned as I had a good moment watching it. When I hate it, usually I abstain for fear of not being objective enough, giving a very bad evaluation and ruining other viewer's plan or experience. I have also heard of the YXHs what they do is despicable, I hope they become soon a thing of the past.
I am glad this drama got its just reward and made its way to me, as i'd never heard of it (but I'm new to the community so :p)
The ending was only that way cuz of censorship if it makes you feel any better. Rebirth theme isnt allowed in…
just read your comments about how sometimes reincarnation is allowed in some dramas but not in others. I actually can understand the ban as there is no limit to human idiocy and in fact, I feel like we're heading to an idiocracy. I mean nowadays we must be sure to explain that dreaking petrol is bad, and I heard some people there committed suicide trying to reincarnate or some such... On another note, I feel like the message this series is trying to send would be completely different. Please don't get me wrong, i hate this ending, I feel cheated for the feelings and time I invested in this drama, but maybe It is an artistic decision (although it seems lazy for me as a trope).
What an underrated drama! I really don't understand how it's not a 9. I wouldn't give it 10 mostly because of the cut scenes although I must say I am so thankful they decided to allow it as the content is extremely taboo and scandalous by the Country's standard and somehow very political. I mean a servant commanding the country, a concubine escaping her destiny AND c***ing a high born with his servant no less, there were also major themes of freedom, personal agency and equality. I am speechless at the audacity and the actors I feel did an amazing job. Both leads were on par and had off the charts chemistry, that's pretty rare.
So happy to see ZLH in action again in the last few episodes of FSMM. What a quirky and funny character, I missed him so much but it's really not enough. I wonder if there will be a sequel with him as main lead. I hope his next projects are aired soon!
Episode 9:- Loved that the FL just went and alsmot killed Yan ChangYun 😂😂😂- Cant believe she just blurred…
All true but I just can't pinpoint the moment he actually started to have feelings for her. I guess he was kinda jealous when he saw her leaving with the emperor so it must have been before but when? lol ( and do you the she will become a concubine?)
I just finished the drama, and I am congratulating myself for getting through ; although I enjoyed the some parts there were many issues, but I stayed because I hate leaving things unfinished. Watch if you're bored and with no expectation.
I rarely comment and almost never leave a negative comment, as it is so easy to be too harsh in writing but I'll try to leave an objective review. and sorry in advance for any mistake as english is not my first language. Please don't hesitate to correct.
The story although it is cheesy now, was avant-garde and romantic back in 2016 and must be viewed while keeping this in mind, it is the same for the special effects which might put you off.
I loved almost all the male characters, they were fun and funny, I loved the brotherhood in the male dorm as well as KO and Hao Mei ambiguous relationship.
Like most fans for Yangyang, I felt bad for him as I feel that he could do better especially when compared to other dramas he starred. Although he made no mistake, there was sometimes something lacking in his eyes or maybe, as I've read somewhere it's just the character that might have lacked substance.
As to the FL, I've never seen her before but she had many issues. She is beautiful, there is no denying that but her voice (or the dubbing) sounds very childish and it was a big turn off, made even worse by her performance. After reading the Novel I realized that the character is flawed from the beginning, the reactions are a bit childish indeed and exagerated in the drama.
I also felt that there was something wrong between the leads, they didn't seem to be on the same wavelength. The kissing scenes made me very uncomfortable, neither the FL nor the ML seemed willing, he seemed more angry than impatient and eager, while she demonstrated her unwillingness by imiating a statute to his advances. It was not romantic, it seemed forced and I felt so bad for both of them it might have been better to delete them or avoid them altogather.
In conclusion, looking back, the best part of the drama was when we had the male actors together they had chemistry and it was the time I had the most fun. The female characters, not so much. The story seems fine despite the clicheys, and the quality was nice. I'd rate this drama a 7 despite it's imperfections because of all it's qualities and keeping in mind that it was made 8 years ago.
I wonder if a kind hearted soul could translate the article they show at the beginning of episode 35. I understood it was critical and written by Shuyi but I still feel like I am missing some key understanding.
Among the multilayered misunderstandings (everyone is welcome to add what I might have missed):- Shu Yi's misunderstanding…
Yes I was very entertained by all these misunderstandings and I also remember the one where Gunji thought Shanshan was about to get married. Not sure if it's already added. Anywaythis is basically how life is anywhere. No one is ever completely honest and everyone saying their truths but not the truth
I’m actually glad the emperor didn’t get any redeeming arc because he didn’t deserve it. He killed off his…
Oh I completely agree. An not really a redeeming arc, I was actually looking forward to some evolution in his character no matter the direction be it good or bad.
He stayed consistent true but his reactions were kinda predictable only the flavor changed and he never learned from his mistakes.
Although it was actually in character because of his ego and since he thought he was the smartest and the best since boiled noodles but that made him seem kinda flat.
As to his death, although I couldn't see the humour, I felt that it was poetic justice for all he did. and the fact that his killer was tricked as well was a very good twist.
as to the veteran I know what you mean but can a veteran only be an old guy? oh he could pull an army officer maybe ?
