Started out really good but at some point the episodes just kept repeating up until the final episodes, where it suddenly turned into a soap opera. The sudden melodrama took me out of the story and got rid of any emotional investment I'd built up.
The ex orchestrating that whole contract marriage thing was so contrived and odd. And some characters (like the ex wife's hubby) just felt like plot devices rather than actual characters. The script also made me cringe at some points. The flow of conversation often felt forced and weird syntax was used. A good example of this is that scene In Ji started going on and on about over/under seasoning the food. Nobody, outside of cartoons, nervously brings up irrelevant points in rapid succession in an attempt to derail a conversation in complete seriousness.
This show is a great example of how not to write a drama. I'm just going to pretend everything beyond episode 4 doesn't exist. That was the entire show for me. Instead of ramming it all into 4 episodes, they could've expanded it into 8 instead of whatever this mess is right now. Barely any JCW, sub-plots that put you to sleep, forcing us to care about Ye seo's dumb ass! No emotional fallout from Jenny's decision in ep. 5. I guess it'll make for some nice TikTok edits but that's it.
