Honestly thanks for the heads up about the way they kill off the gay character... I was excited to watch this but totally not a fan of tragic gay character trope. :^(
I'm reading the novel and it's REALLY good... but low key scared for this drama. Even if they stick to the novel's plot (which dramas don't have a history of doing), the ML's backstory is really emotional and he goes through a lot of character growth. Neo Hou's hot and all but after watching A Girl Like Me I'm not sure his acting will cut it... lol, guess I'll wait and see :')
Not sure why people are complaining about the ending - lol? If you’ve seen Romance of Tiger and Rose or General’s Lady, it’s that kind of energy. I honestly thought it was handled better than the aforementioned dramas because they tied it with an overarching message (trying to understand from the other side’s perspective) that was carried throughout the show. 10/10!!!
Scared for the writing of this drama and the changes they’ll make,,, especially with the reincarnation censorship and how the novel spans Shen Miao’s formative years (as well as some of the brutality of her revenge plots). Guess we’ll have to wait and see :’)

I think they confess to each other around ep 10 and start dating afterwards. In that 5 year gap he worked at an asset management fund and bc of unfortunate circumstances had a list of tragedies (security officer at his firm lost money and OD'd/became paraplegic, his hyung/mentor got in a car accident with him and passed away) where he blamed himself for.
