Ji Sung had one of the best endings with The Devil Judge so hoping the streak continues :)

Even with slow pacing, I was definitely intrigued by the storyline and mysterious aura created in the first few episodes. Whoever dropped this early is missing out on a real gem!

Exactly my thoughts! This drama really lacks any depth or character growth (except maybe for the Crown Prince). Villains were laughable and writing was too convenient to make Jang Uk look like a huge deal! Definitely meant for teens who would swoon over pretty faces and call it the “best drama ever”. As you said, parts of it were enjoyable and I think production value was solid. I wish S2 will make female characters look stronger and not damsels in distress.

For such a high budget drama, the king’s crown looks so cheap and crafty 😂

Hmm…I’m not sure what d’damas is but the name “diamond” derives from the Greek word adamas, which means invincible. Its in reference to both the extraordinary hardness of a diamond as well as (according to some ancient myths) its supposed magic properties to protect against any poison or attack.

You’re totally right, and not to mention- it’s extra demeaning to make the only female lead character so weak that she constantly needs one of the male leads to come save her from every situation. The whole promise of a strong mage called Naksu only lasted 1 episode haha!

I mean…they could’ve dramatically reduced the unfunny fillers from the first 8 episodes! There’s definitely a lot of skippable scenes. Keeping story tight is also a skill.

Writing is still quite lazy! Why won’t they spend more time showing how Uk is learning/mastering his new skills? It just happens to come to him quickly because he is the “chosen one”? Lazy…

More alchemy, less unnecessary side romances please. Episode 12 was really good.
