I was looking for Michelle Yeoh and then remembered she is Malaysian (which maybe explains why she's not in this list). Also, I think the Korean male actors list is lacking some major movie actors names...

Title My Love Eun Dong Spoiler
This drama had some solid acting and solid writing. Last episode though was so boring...
How can you not see each other for 1 year, meet finally, and not even hug! I know it's a kdrama, not reality, but it just didn't make sense...okay let me take back the last part...loving 1 woman (who is not around) for 20 years without dating anyone else when you're a man, hot, rich, and famous didn't make sense either and that was basically the whole drama line...LoL

Another year where the male lead fans just vote because of a pretty face (vintage hint: Rooftop Prince)…I have…
I don't find KSH pretty nor a great actor but that's just my opinion and taste. I understood that his many fans find him very attractive thus my comment above. I understand now from your comments that his fans also find him to be a good actor regardless of his looks...My Bad, please accept my apologies ;-)).
I personally didn't like any of the dramas he was in before (that I watched) and besides JJH, I wouldn't have watched nor liked YWCFTS. He just doesn't speak to me at any level as an actor…
I guess it is up to personal taste for each of us. I'm sure some actors that I find pretty and/or talented will be in the bottom or worst list for one of you.

HasegawaYui, I loved your comment about the pink banner! I used to have these all plastered in my room when i was a teenager but I'm no longer a teenager sadly…the websites who sell the Kactors banners would have made a fortune with me if I discovered Kdramas then ;-)

Another year where the male lead fans just vote because of a pretty face (vintage hint: Rooftop Prince)…I have absolutely nothing against pretty faces…i'm a KDrama fan after all ;-) …But I think when voting, fans shouldn't discriminately choose any work done by said pretty actor instead of better work featuring other talented actors. A pretty face shouldn't take away all common sense…
Please feel free to save this comment and send it back to me in the future when i discriminately vote for a so-so drama featuring a very very pretty face…I'm not immune to lapses in judgment… ;-)

One rare Kdrama that actually depicts a new couple moments as in real life: the kissing, hugging, teasing, small fighting etc. Usually the Kdrama couples barely hold hands or kiss once and even that is seen as a big event with the girl keeping her eyes wide open or keeping her arms to her side... The actors in this drama are in their 30s and their behavior made sense. Thumbs up to the writers!

If i was an actor/actress, would I feel proud to receive the 'most popular' award? I think the subtext to this award is: 'your performance was not good enough for an acting award but hey, the young people think you're pretty, so here's an award for being born with good genes/having a fantastic plastic surgeon/taking good care of your skin etc etc to keep the young people happy'.
I really have nothing against good looking actors (I'm a Kdrama fan after all), I just think that there's no need to have such an award in a ceremony which is 'supposed' to reward excellence in acting.
On Secret Love Affair May 18, 2014
Title Secret Love Affair Spoiler
Does anybody else feel that the whole love & betrayal theme in this drama was between Hye won, sun jae, and hye won's career/job? her relationship with her husband was so non-existing from the very beginning that it's hard for me to see any betrayal there (you can't 'cheat' on someone you share living space with! that's called a roommate).
the writers made me feel that her real commitment and love and time since she was young was dedicated to her career/job so she had at the end to choose between sun jae and her ambition (not sun jae and her husband).
one of my fave dramas by the way :-)

I think SKorean TV awards are the only ones that nominate still airing dramas…I mean how is that even possible...how…
;-) a few should fire their stylists, if they have any…

I think SKorean TV awards are the only ones that nominate still airing dramas…I mean how is that even possible...how can they make a decision on an unfinished work?
Imagine this: KBS giving best 2012 screenplay award to the Hong sisters for BIG after airing 4 episodes…that would have been a completely undeserved award, right? Those who watched the drama will/may understand my point... LoL
I rest my case and will not even comment on Lee Seung Gi's flowery jacket… :-)

Master's Sun! really…well we had Rooftop Prince last year so I shouldn't be surprised. LoL Jeaniessi, you've…
Well I heard Yoochun is doing a drama on 2014 so expect to see that drama win the MDL poll on 2014, regardless of the story! Lol
*Just kidding MDLers, don't hate on me now*

Jeaniessi, you've worked hard (don't know how to write it in Korean)!

LOL your article is so right! When I was a newbie, I used to google words like "oppa# etc or rewind the scene to try to understand what the characters meant as sometimes the English subs didn't make sense with the scene at all! Now, I understand that I'm not going to get the right meaning of each scene so i let it go…and sometimes just laugh at the subs (The anime example you added is perfect).
But I have to agree with Meighy's comment below, I prefer any subs (literal or modified) than no subs at all. :-)

Totally agree with you: Nine was the best sup drama this year (good drama even without the sup element), Master's Sun was overrated (a waste of SJS talent), and you did well skipping I hear your voice (extremely overrated drama this year). Obviously, my own opinion and other are entitled to theirs…this is up to each person's tastes.

Love the poll!
Breakout Star should be about new names that were discovered this year (or really made it this year). I don't think IU should be in this category. She is way too famous already in SK, or maybe I'm mistaken?
Also missing in Best Poo Hair list, the female lead from NINE…LOVED the drama but that was a messed up hairstyle :-)

Article Kdrama Bases
Perfect (hilarious) summary, couldn't have said it better. The open-eyed lip-press is just plain wrong at so many levels...a repeat offender in Kdramas.
Kachiiing May 19, 2013
You raised a good point in your article!
In my opinion, Kdrama writers sell escapism and fantasy worlds. The couples and stories are so stretched and overboard that they can't possibly be taken for real by any normally functioning brain.
But i guess the formula works because the viewers have enough reality to deal with in their own life so they don't really want to watch 2 very real struggling or poor people fall in love on the small screen.
Also what will happen to the product placements if both lead characters are poor!! OMO... ;-)

I'm not judging who did what or not or who is guilty or not. I'm not a judge or the police and I'm not privy to the actual investigation reports. The fact that I watched and enjoyed PSH dramas doesn't make me a judge of his real personality. The facts or rumors written about the Girl in the press also don't allow me to judge her.

BUT please, stop writing: "he's so hot, women will kill to sleep with him, he doesn't need to rape anybody". That sounds just so ignorant. A rapist can be any man, regardless of looks, background, and wealth.

I rest my case. ; -)

Agree with you on all besides Secret Garden's tracksuits. I think they were meant to be funny in the drama.
Also i would like to add the KDrama fashion crime that ticks me the most: Fur collars for men...like seriously do you know any man in his right mind wearing a coat or jacket with a fur collar (unless he lives in Alaska or similar)?
