I LOVE THE ENDING! I love everything in this drama! I don't watch much BL and I only stick to japanese dramas so this is my most favorite BL among the few BL dramas I've watched. I think I can't watch anything until I move on from this. That said, I will surely re-watch utsukare multiple times!

I don't know if someone has already pointed these out but I want to state my observation about Kiyoi in their high school days. Kiyoi is not abusive and if his actions look like he bullies Hira, he was just trying to give Hira high school memories in a forceful way. But if you analyze his actions, you'll understand Kiyoi cares about Hira in their high school days.
Like when Kiyoi's group commands Hira to buy lunch or drinks, Kiyoi gives money to buy and get one for Hira too(unlike other bully scenes in other jdrama, the victim uses their own money to buy), Hira eats with them during lunch because he has no friends to join with. During summer break Kiyoi suggested to use Hira's house as their group meeting place giving Hira (who thought that summer break will save him from school) some summer memories like meeting with friends and doing fireworks. Kiyoi also protects Hira from their other classmates bossing around Hira, preventing them to extend the "bullying" to the whole class, as if Kiyoi is the only who can boss him around. So if Hira looks back to his highschool life, days with Kiyoi seems to be a normal highschool student's memories and that prevents Hira to look like a highschool misfit.
