Am I the only one who laughed at that ending? Nuer's death I was like wth? it was so ridiculous. Watching…
it was such an unnecessary plot twist. not even because it was sad, there are stories that end sadly and that's fine. but here it wasn't necessary not just because it was a heavy-handed use of the bury-your-gays trope, but also since the message could've carried much greater impact had it actually given porsche & nuer a chance to spend time together despite all the setbacks they were facing. an uplifting, hopeful ending that celebrates life and togetherness would've worked much better imo

I agree with the consensus. The ending was harsh. I felt it was undeserved and cruel. The writers did not have…
yeah, what kind of a message was that :/ it's a classic example of the bury-your-gays trope, unnecessarily harsh especially considering there was so much love and support between them and around them overall. shame

So are the three friends gay or trans? Because in the trailer there are many scenes of them in drag and I was…
in thailand they generally don't make a distinction between sexual orientation and gender identity, so someone who's seen as a stereotypically flamboyant gay man is assumed to be a kathoey/crossdresser. that's the perception, that is

yeah as others have said there's some abuse scenes and it's a seriously dysfunctional and unhealthy situation overall so keep that in mind

this kdrama's good overall but i have to admit that even just after a few years it didn't age that well, too trendy and plastic for it to really stand out

i see what you mean but that still doesn't mean he's a girl in any way...being quiet/introverted doesn't make someone less masculine

i mean the characterization in the story, not in real life...being gay doesn't mean being effeminate, but these actors who play the ukes are told to act like girls so that's what it looks like

LOL.. Its so funny how 'these' people keep saying that everyone has personal preference and we cannot…
personally i like going on drama pages and seeing different opinions, even negative ones. my least favorite thing is seeing a page full of comments with nothing but praise and hype only to then watch the drama and be disappointed. so i feel that valid criticism's appreciated. those who post just for the sake of being negative asshats on the other hand, not so much. that distinction's kind of important imo

@AdvancedLoveSniper "sometimes I forget that Wayo is a boy lol, that's how good his acting is" i know what you meant here, but i just hope you realize the character is a boy regardless of his sexual orientation. they make him girl-like because these depictions are modeled after f/m couple dynamics, but there's no connection to the reality of same-sex couples

I've been giving this series a chance because I commit myself to finishing what I start. And I'm still…
yeah sad that's how it is now that BL has gone mainstream in thailand. to think that many of the directors of these BLs are queer themselves, but they choose to exploit & hypersexualize (way too young) actors and put some really messed up messages out there all for the sake of getting some spare change. they don't even allow non-straight actors to do the main roles, it's ugly.

is anybody actually enjoying this, i mean...even if you're into the badly acted fluff, these directors are…
yeah i get the feeling they changed the tone just to keep things fresh. the directors put a bit of effort into s1 (though even there there they recycled too much from Lovesick and Waterboyy probably) but s2 feels like a waste of time for everyone involved. too bad, it had potential

unpopular (negative) opinion: i couldn't finish this. too many long and boring filler scenes, shoddy production…
sorry i didn't make that clear, i didn't mean the actors! and yeah not everyone wants labels, irl that's true. but when it's in the context of a show that already plays up the whole arrow-straight-dude-who's-only-gay-for-one-guy trope, it's different. the avoidance of labeling is because the stigma would ruin the lead's image to the audience imo, as one reason why, and that just feels off to me

also, i want to add...sotus is definitely better than the usual thai bl drama, same goes for the webnovel. it's disappointing when i think about the potential, but then again i can't imagine some indie director making it on a small budget as a linetv webseries lol so it had to be gmmtv

thanks for the polite reply, first of all ^^ i realize that it's a harsh opinion but i stand by it being casual homophobia. i was talking specifically about how the characters' sexuality is handled, that's one pet peeve of mine - when being gay/bi is swept under the rug in favor of the whole "love knows no gender" message that's really just meant to keep the protag's normativity/privilege in tact. meanwhile, the queer coded characters are used for comic relief - something that was extra obvious when they released that So-toot parody. these shows are not made with an lgbtq audience in mind, it's commercial television. so being critical of that isn't to say to say the actors' attitudes are necessarily a part of it, but rather an issue with the creators' decisions overall
