Tang Xu's father didn't take the blame for the corruption - Xiao Ning's father did. Tang Xu's father was the driver that caused the accident, probably under Cheng Ran's father's orders.
Xiao Ning's family know that Tang Xu's father was the driver (he was caught after all) hence the hostility between her aunt and him.

while i do agree that the title isn't the best, the animals that they chose aren't random.
crow - the FL is introduced as a very unlucky person, and crow in Chinese culture is associated with bad luck. there're also some instances when she refers to herself as a crow for bringing bad luck to others.
lizard - the ML had an accident and after recovery, is under doctor's instructions to suppress his emotions or else his life will be in danger. Lizards are cold-blooded animals and is often a metaphor used in dramas for unfeeling characters (i think there was an instance where a character associated the ML to being a lizard. that was when I went, ohhhhh that's why ML is a lizard, cuz he cannot feel emotions!)
i think they were trying to go the same route as Mr Perfect and Miss Casual but it didn't come across as straightforward. I'd rather they went with Mr Cold-blooded and Miss Unlucky cuz i didn't get the animals analogy until a few episodes in.

In the scene when Zhen Zhu overheard that CG is going to Chang An, she asked her father if she can follow. Her father said it is dangerous, and Zhen Zhu replied saying that "CG and Sun is following, if anything happens to me, you can hold CG responsible" (as in take revenge on CG, so notice how she left Sun out, kinda like protecting him in a sense).
the scene in ep 42 when Sun appeared and CG is persuading him to fight She'er, Zhen Zhu said "even though I really don't want you to fight, there isn't a better choice now" and "even if CG agrees, I won't". at first I thought she said it because she supports CG and Sun's relationship, but it can also be interpreted as her having a little crush.
And also notice how every time Sun appears, Zhen Zhu will run towards him and call him "Sun ge ge".
