The fashion with the locs and afro-hairstyles is what pushed it into the realm of unnecessary. At that point you are trying to imitate black culture. As people who are not black, it is not okay. Just as it is not okay for Hollywood to make movies and have actors use eyelid tape and makeup to become asian.


There are so many ways they could have been “undercover” without doing blackface. It’s lazy and it’s racist. Try again.

White people are not in a position of inferiority or discrimination based on race.

Also I make no excuses for Tropic Thunder because it’s a shitty movie that tried doing that ironically to criticize Hollywood and it still sucked.


Stop making excuses for blackface when they could have easily done something like camo face and moved around at night, etc. Don’t try to make excuses for the creators of that film who intentionally set it in Africa to perpetuate the black man bad stereotype.

It took me two minutes to explain to my mainland Chinese friend how blackface is exactly the same feeling she would have if I (a white person) taped my eyes and did my makeup to look Chinese. It is not hard to understand not to mimic racial features of other races for entertainment.

Please search even the Wikipedia page to understand that blackface has been an issue in numerous countries beyond the US. It isn’t just a US problem, therefore not using blackface is a worldwide solution.
