Am I the only one that feels that the OST doesn't work with the show?
it's different for a change. I quite liked it. It made me listen up :) Not your average tune that is lost in the background. Not too repetative(yet) but it's recognisable.
Oh no. Her? I am sorry, but I really don't like her acting. I was hoping to see some improvement in Fbnd, but she still has about 1 facial expression... no match for Lee Min Ho.
1)f
2)I suppose it levels out between people who bias one gender and people who prefer the other... ?! So bias on both sides creates an equilibrium...
3)It's def. aimed at females. Too many female desire's and stereotypes are served. A female's preferred character in Asia is portrayed and a female's carreer and behaviour in a capitalist society is in the focus (same goes for historical dramas)
4) guilty, tendency towards males. (3/5)
5)I usually go for capabilities, but sometimes in a good story I will overlook b-rated acting. Eye-candy is always desireable. (Does that make me a stereotypical female oO?)
6)Shame on me. Sometimes I do uprate a horrible drama because it has somebody in it who is the only reason I am even finishing it... But I do not watch a drama for the actors. Some of my favourite actors have also starred in horrible dramas.
7)Yes. one can't like everything, though soemtimes I try new things. Maybe they convince me, maybe they don't. I prefer Historicals, a little action, a little romance, a little comedy.
1. I think I might just start "My girlfriend is a gumiho" now.
2. I didn't like the j version of F4 so I decided not to watch any of the other versions, but Lee Min Ho is just *rawwr*
3. Jang Geun Suk is just adorable in this scene. XD
4. kyaahhh >_< need to rewatch SKKS *kekeke*
5. Disliked Queen In Hyun's man. Sorry, no chemistry at all...
And I know can't show every kiss in Kdramaland but where is Secret Garden? They had a lot of ... let's call it -action- going on!
I've been waiting for this review ^^
Though I ahve to admit I did not make it beyond the first 5 minutes of the japanese remake I enjoyed all 3 other versions.
I totally agreee with your rating. All versions had pros and cons.
It would be so hard to pick one. Since nakatsu was my favourite character in the whole drama I would probably go for the japanese version where he is portrayed best. Yet you are right when you say there was no chemistry... so maybe the Taiwan version was better still... but there the ending was crap... so i should vote for the Korean version? But that one was just overall weak...
ARG >_< so difficult.
MAO :D The sweat suit, the sweat suit!! XDDD
THE sweat suit.
Just saw something similar at the shops this weekend. Bright purple and with a zipper. My friend who doesn't watch dramas goes like "Who in their right mind would wear that??"
And I was like "I'll show you a picture later---" XDDD
I am glad you decided to bring up this side of society and it's reflection/portrayal in dramas.
You are right when you point out the worrying number of dramas that, maybe not praise, but certainly not deconstruct the image of the iljins.
Not only because they do wrong but it also reveals a lot about a society that thinks the girl should fall for the handsome/rich guy even though he does wrong.
I would be curious about some more statistics or governmental decrees to deal with these circumstances. Is this (though obviously recognised as a problem) accepted? Do schools try to reduce parental influence? Or are schools that dependend on external funding that they have to put up with this?
I am not overly familiar with the korean / asian educational system...
have to admit that JUNG YONG HWA as KANG SHIN WOO (You're Beautiful) was not a sad 2nd lead. Personally I wouldn't have gone for him. He was just too nice. A girl can have too much nice. And who could blame go mi nam for picking geun suk? Especially with that pouting thing going on *swoon* opps getting distracted here...
I think that Jeremy was the sad 2nd male lead in you're beautiful.
Oh it's going to be tough. With two versions already on the market... *unsure*
I doubt that the male lead can compete with Jang Geun Suk (although he looks the part well enough) or that there is any one better at playing Jeremy than Yaotome Hikaru. But that only goes to show, that the two versions already out there have their different strength. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this one is just a copy. I'll definitely try watching it. Let's wait and see.
Did you just really compare this to the Diary of Anne Frank? oO
That's a bit ...
Anyway. It's a cute way of doing a review.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will look into it (esp. Nodame cantabile) asap :) Just checked your DL and must say: quite the expert on jdramas, I see ^^
:3
Seems like you can't go wrong with a "Lee" there XD
Totally agree btw! Especially Hyun Bin. That man has me crying every single time...
Though you might want to add one more "Lee" ^^ Lee Seung Gi was really touching in King2hearts.
Has anyone seen this one: k.will (Please don't)
Also gorgeous bromance:
