hot take: they should’ve ended the show at ep 27. instead they decided to force a reunion and rush a confession. yes, from a viewer’s point you would love to see them happily together but that’s not always the case in life. the director should’ve taken the risk and left it a bittersweet ending. their last look being coincidental is SOO them. they met on the side of the road and she thought he was a bully. ending the show with them not together would’ve made so much sense. at ep 27 from QY’s pov she still thinks about XW but he’s a distant memory. QY doesn’t know anything about what life he’s been living and that’s okay. leaving it to everyone’s interpretation is the most realistic scenario. the symbolism in their “last look” being in those taxis, QY is blinded by the sun but looks back at XW, XW looks back at QY is so strong. they have a history but that doesn’t mean they also have/ need a future. at the end of the day the cars they were in passed eachother without going back. still, i get the decision to make them together cause of fanservice and brainless bots that couldn’t comprehend all of this,who’d bombard the show with low ratings cause of a “sad ending”. NOT ALL SHOWS NEED A HAPPY ENDING! give us shows with a suitable ending (this is why i love 2521, it’s not sad cause in the end NHD choose herself)
