This was incredibly entertaining; the way the scenes are threaded together make you think about the details and how a minor thing can shape the story in a completely different direction. It was predictable towards the end for me, but that might not be the case for everyone (I was still glad to see the reasoning and conclusion).
All the actors did a fantastic job but I really loved the nuances in Jin Kyung’s expressions as the long-suffering wife of a selfish, uninspired man. I felt for her in every interaction she had with her husband.
Equally, Choi Minsik’s portrayal of the stagnant professor desperately seeking a thrill that will spark an idea (even if he doesn’t know that’s what he wants) was incredibly convincing. Despite being the mc, he was super unlikable, but it was hard to look away from his unfolding mania. Hyunwook’s ability to bounce off Minsik in their scenes together is seriously good, and I think he really embodied the hunched, confusing Lee Kang.
If you like a winding story, I would give this a go; the most popular reviews aren’t indicative of the quality of this series imo (and the kiss scene was so minor I can’t believe people are mad about it).
Can’t understand what some people are complaining about; this drama is based on a webtoon, and it’s fiction, of course there’s going to be over-the -top scenes?
It’s not necessarily the best kdrama ever but some of the criticism doesn’t make much sense. I think it’s unnecessary to say that they should have approached the bullies/bad guys’ punishment differently as 1. they’re following the source material and 2. if there was some magical way to end things cleanly, wouldn’t that be the reality already? Of course it would be nice if violence wasn’t the main method, but this is a drama, so there will be just that: drama.
Typically, media that critiques a system will reflect the most extreme version of consequences to get the message across (judging by the action scenes, it’s pretty obvious that this is not supposed to be super realistic).
Also, it’s basically a fantasy to think that all ‘bad guys’ can be reformed, in an ideal world it would happen, but real life proves that not everyone can see the error of their ways.
Just some thoughts, this show was fun to watch in a group lol
