Off topic But wanna ask if you have any recommendations for slow burn historical dramas?
You'll love Yong'an Dream! It's so smart and hilarious!
Journey of Chong Zi is cute in a way I haven't seen in chinese dramas. There are some flaws on the plot, but nothing that made me give up on watching. You just need to be patient because it is a really slow burn chemistry and the FL is annoying. But I liked so much! It has some angst later on, but nothing compared to Till the End of the Moon, that is really, really sad. Don't forget to check on episode 41, the epilogue, for the happy ending.
In the novel it's actually slow burn but they can't keep the same story due to many reason so they made RR fall…
Thank you for the information! I don't know why they always change so much the original story on adaptations. It cracks up the plot!
I think that if they were loyal to the story and made Ran Ran fell in love with Su Yi Shui when he lost his memories would be better because I think she was too much forceful towards him while he was treating her badly for many motives.
On the other side, it is shown in the drama that SYS fell in love with her years after he became her disciple because she was the only one who truly sheltered him. It's just that I felt it wasn't enough reason for him to be so in love with her.
It begins great, but the ML catches strong feelings too soon and the FL is really forceful with hers. Also, there was no need to have so much spells that a great part of the drama is the characters explaining them. I think it was really excessive.
By the way, the FL acts great, but the ML doesn't. There were sometimes that he did a great job (like when he is pissed off), but the love scenes are almost all disturbing because it wasn't natural for him. I have seen other dramas with him in the cast and he did a great job there, maybe because he wasn't too much involved in romance.
I don't understand the low rating. It's the only drama that the male lead is kind to the female lead since the beginning. Also, their chemistry flows naturally as a slow burn, coming from none to really good, with almost no embarassing situations to create chemistry like other series. So, I like it a lot and am watching again.
By the way, the OST, the landscape and the casting are great and the hate on Yang Chaoyue (Chong Zi's actress) is nonsense. It's her character that doesn't help. Of course she is not as great as Jeremy Tsui (Luo Yin Fan's actor), but she did a satisfactory job interpreting different personalities.
In my view, the problem is that the plot and the edition has some flaws, which may be disturbing sometimes, but nothing that harms the hole drama.
